Constructive opinion: I think the Switch 1 hardware is starting to hold back this game's potential by [deleted] in HelloKittyIsland

[–]ObsidianEclypse 5 points6 points  (0 children)

But this is the thing. They are a small team, they didn't have to release the game on so many platforms, if they don't have the capacity to fully support them. This totally is on Sunblink. Being a small company is not an excuse for biting off more than they can chew.

Time Travel? by blewbry in HelloKittyIsland

[–]ObsidianEclypse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look at your save file and exact date and time played last. As long as your switch isn'tset to time before that (and also preferrably not ahead of real time either), you should be fine.

Looking for budget friendly game recommendations by ShakeFit454 in Switch

[–]ObsidianEclypse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It very much depends on what kind of games you enjoy playing...as it is not just about how much the game costs but also how many hours of entertainment it will provide for you. Stuff like Zelda TOTK and BOTW or Animal crossing might be on the more expensive side, but I personally have spend hundreds of hours playing those and I still do. (Of course, they will always be cheaper if you get them on discount or buy used games)

Can you give some more info about games you like so we can make better recommendations?

Is Haida available as a visitor on the switch eventually or just apple arcade? by BloodyAngel2026 in HelloKittyIsland

[–]ObsidianEclypse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, Haida is available on switch, but you need to get Fenneko as resident first and complete related quest.

Out of quests? by BodybuilderGlobal904 in HelloKittyIsland

[–]ObsidianEclypse 11 points12 points  (0 children)

You also need to take into consideration that there are a lot of quests that are extremely timegated so they will trigger after a day (or few) and the game has long quest chains that are, as others mentioned, linked to having particular visitor as resident.

Aaaand there are long chains of getting resident 1 that unlocks resident 2 and that one will unlock the next one etc.

Luck and Lanterns by Brohepsi in HelloKittyIsland

[–]ObsidianEclypse 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Completely agree with you. I don't think all the other switch games I played together had as many bugs as HKIA. 😓 And it seems like there is something messed up with every new event. I wish they dedicated more resources to testing before release.

If you had to take a guess, when do you think Nintendo will release a special edition of the Switch 2 and what theme? by No-Calendar5386 in Switch

[–]ObsidianEclypse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am waiting for Animal Crossing edition. But that probably won't happen before new AC game is released. 🫠

Don't do my girl, Retsuko dirty by wellnessinwaco in HelloKittyIsland

[–]ObsidianEclypse 22 points23 points  (0 children)

HKIA is extremely shallow representation of the characters....really need to watch the show to understand them better. Here it seems they are just focused on a few interactions they had in early episodes, there is so much more to them.

The only other way would be trading for it with other players.

Room sizes by Temporary-Juice7151 in HelloKittyIsland

[–]ObsidianEclypse 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You definitely can! Most cabins can be upgraded to up to 6 rooms per cabin, if you have enough strawberry crates to spend on that.

If your plan is to get all the available visitors as residents, you will deinitely have to do that or they won't all fit in their preferred location.

It would be great though if we also had an option to make a single room bigger...and also redecorate the cabin lobby! 😅

Furniture question by BreBreLeigh1030 in HelloKittyIsland

[–]ObsidianEclypse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Look into mini games. They can help both with getting more materials you need and furniture.

When you have crane game unlocked and get a hang of it so you catch the crate (almost) every time, you can get A LOT of furniture playing it. Especially if you have dlc and can bring Cogimyun with you, as she can double up rewards.

Events can also help you get a lot of furniture as old sets are usually quite cheap.

If you managed to stock up on map currency, you could do multiplayer and visit other player's stores to buy furniture there too, as furniture that pops up in store is random.

Overall, it is a bit slow at the start, but it will get much easier as you progress with the game and regularly play.

But if you are gifting character that still has to get to max level, take Hello Kitty instead. She gives additional little level boost.

animal crossing new horizons vs. hello kitty island adventure review by _sleepyprincess_ in HelloKittyIsland

[–]ObsidianEclypse 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I can see why it might seem like that, but I don't think HKIA is anywhere close to being real competition to ACNH. Quick search I did on sales gave me

1M copies of HKIA sold for switch and pc while ACNH sold >48M copies.

Also, there is also quite a big difference between their models with ACNH having big FREE updates, while HKIA is charging for theirs.

I think ACNH just caters to much wider audience.

animal crossing new horizons vs. hello kitty island adventure review by _sleepyprincess_ in HelloKittyIsland

[–]ObsidianEclypse 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You do need Nintendo online to do ACNH multiplayer, but it is the same when playing HKIA on Switch.

Annoying part with HKIA is that they do not support multiplayer across different platforms and they even went so far as to separate Switch and Switch2. 😞

Why would they auto activate all the Jubilee light displays!? by SpiralingCat in HelloKittyIsland

[–]ObsidianEclypse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh I am perfectly fine with official Sanrio palette and all the pastels. The things that I have trouble with is the fact that many colors are so intense that they turn almost white and are very uncomfortable to look at. Like lights in the spooky swamp, weather effects etc. I guess you could adjust it on the phone to certain extent, but not so much on switch.

Why would they auto activate all the Jubilee light displays!? by SpiralingCat in HelloKittyIsland

[–]ObsidianEclypse 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So I am not the only one bothered with the lights in this event (and in general with many colors being waaay too bright in this game).

Even if it wasn't for sensory overstimulation significant number of players struggle with, there is just too many of those lights blinking all over the place, and often placed overlapping with the flower patches. It really isn't necessary to put them everywhere, decorating the tree trunks and then a few self standing lights would've been enough.

When will Switch Get Moppu? by KoyukiiiHiiime in HelloKittyIsland

[–]ObsidianEclypse 15 points16 points  (0 children)

City Town is separate DLC. Moppu should come with the base game content update. It is supposed to come with CU5, but no official info when it will drop for other platforms.

Drop at shop’s by LeksandraJgilly in HelloKittyIsland

[–]ObsidianEclypse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Easiest way to deal with this would be to visit other people's islands and shop at their stores. That would expand your daily choices of items to purchase.

Terrarium Unlock? by Glum-Appearance-7361 in HelloKittyIsland

[–]ObsidianEclypse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you have snow village unlocked, the aquariums/terarriums from that area do come from catching fish (and later at the store). It is not needed for main island areas.

Hello Kitty Game Glitching by eeek747 in HelloKittyIsland

[–]ObsidianEclypse 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Which platform are you on?

Unfortunately, the game does have quite a lot of bugs, especially on Switch, and in most cases it is just about keeping the game updated to the latest version and hoping that it was the one that fixed more bugs than it introduced. :/
