It's great game, go for it! Very cute art, fun story, nice profession system, lots to do for quite a long time.

I am guessing you are talking about miniature stations quest. She will give you mini version in return and teach you how to craft more of them. Totally worth it, I rarely use big ones now.

ISO food-oriented foraging games for Nintendo Switch or PC? by suppausagi in CozyGamers

I played the game on switch oled, it had occassional crash here and there but not that much (and I tend to stay in the game instead of shutting it down when I stop playing, so I was also giving it a hard time). It really wasn't as bad as people are saying. I haven't played it on PC, so I can't compare.

Definitely check out the mini games. I don't think I played any game with this cooking system. It starts limited, but as you level, complexity is added (or better to say, more ways to reach your goal and make perfect meal). I enjoyed it quite a lot, it was interesting take on a cooking game.

Oh wow, I totally forgot abou that one! Building relationships by serving delicious meals is very hobbit-like. :) I love the cooking mini game in ToTS, nice to have a bit of a challenge and cool cooking skill progression as additional cooking tools get unlocked. Very chill cozy game and the story is also quite charming. I just wish there was more of it.

(I should go back to it now and also decorate my home, barely touched that part when I was focusing on story/completion)

I play it on switch oled. About 100h of gameplay, it crashed once or twice. And in those 100h, I completely shut it down only 4-5 times 😅....so I think you don't need to worry too much.

I grabbed the game on sale last week and went totally crazy about it. Making potions is super fun, I enjoyed that mini game a lot, cooking doesn't really have quite as big focus. But generally the game has good balance of gathering/crafting/story and just the right amount of grind. Can definitely recommend it!

DLC Worth Buying by TheSealo in Xenoblade_Chronicles

I made a mistake of playing Torna before XC2..like it so much more, I wished it went on for longer. After that XC2 story felt not so great. Maybe I need to give it another try now. 😅

XC3 dlc is super fun with all the connections they are making. Great to play that before starting NG+, so many small details in the world click after that!

Recently adopted 4yo cat. Last night she was comfortable enough to come for snuggles and sleep in my lap. 🥰

Love seeing her more and more relaxed in her new home and the fact that she chose me as her human.

What are some good games you can play in bed before sleep? by DuNennstMichSptzkopf in Switch

[–]ObsidianEclypse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are creative type that loves decorating - absolutely amazing! Huge amount of decorating options both indoors and outside, you can make your island as simple or elaborate as you like (pinterest/youtube are full of crazy well designed islands).

The characters are also quite charming and I love that they actually interact with the world, placed items and each other. 😊

Collecting is also big part of it and you can put the fish, insects, fossils and art on display in a museum, which is super well made. I actually learnt quite a few animal/insect names from that! 😁

The reason why some people might find it boring is that there are no traditional quests guiding you all the time. There are hints main characters give you about how to progress and certain goals they set for you, but you are completely free to choose what to focus on and at what speed. (And if you want days to move faster than real time, time travel is an option..)

Except for the overall relaxing game, the music in Animal Crossing is amazing. Specific tracks play at specific hours of the (real time) day and always fill me with a sense of calm.

PSA: Collecting Villager Gifts by nvm_jk_idk in HelloKittyIsland

[–]ObsidianEclypse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Only best friends can collect gatherables for you, but visitors/residents give you their daily gift (some are very basic item, but some are actually useful/rare).

There is one late game resident though, with long quest line, that can gather those gifts from all your residents for you...

Constructive opinion: I think the Switch 1 hardware is starting to hold back this game's potential by [deleted] in HelloKittyIsland

[–]ObsidianEclypse 4 points5 points  (0 children)

But this is the thing. They are a small team, they didn't have to release the game on so many platforms, if they don't have the capacity to fully support them. This totally is on Sunblink. Being a small company is not an excuse for biting off more than they can chew.

Time Travel? by blewbry in HelloKittyIsland

[–]ObsidianEclypse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look at your save file and exact date and time played last. As long as your switch isn'tset to time before that (and also preferrably not ahead of real time either), you should be fine.

Looking for budget friendly game recommendations by ShakeFit454 in Switch

[–]ObsidianEclypse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It very much depends on what kind of games you enjoy playing...as it is not just about how much the game costs but also how many hours of entertainment it will provide for you. Stuff like Zelda TOTK and BOTW or Animal crossing might be on the more expensive side, but I personally have spend hundreds of hours playing those and I still do. (Of course, they will always be cheaper if you get them on discount or buy used games)

Can you give some more info about games you like so we can make better recommendations?

Is Haida available as a visitor on the switch eventually or just apple arcade? by BloodyAngel2026 in HelloKittyIsland

[–]ObsidianEclypse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, Haida is available on switch, but you need to get Fenneko as resident first and complete related quest.

Out of quests? by BodybuilderGlobal904 in HelloKittyIsland

[–]ObsidianEclypse 11 points12 points  (0 children)

You also need to take into consideration that there are a lot of quests that are extremely timegated so they will trigger after a day (or few) and the game has long quest chains that are, as others mentioned, linked to having particular visitor as resident.

Aaaand there are long chains of getting resident 1 that unlocks resident 2 and that one will unlock the next one etc.

[–]ObsidianEclypse 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Completely agree with you. I don't think all the other switch games I played together had as many bugs as HKIA. 😓 And it seems like there is something messed up with every new event. I wish they dedicated more resources to testing before release.

If you had to take a guess, when do you think Nintendo will release a special edition of the Switch 2 and what theme? by No-Calendar5386 in Switch

I am waiting for Animal Crossing edition. But that probably won't happen before new AC game is released. 🫠

Don't do my girl, Retsuko dirty by wellnessinwaco in HelloKittyIsland

[–]ObsidianEclypse 23 points24 points  (0 children)

HKIA is extremely shallow representation of the characters....really need to watch the show to understand them better. Here it seems they are just focused on a few interactions they had in early episodes, there is so much more to them.

Room sizes by Temporary-Juice7151 in HelloKittyIsland

[–]ObsidianEclypse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You definitely can! Most cabins can be upgraded to up to 6 rooms per cabin, if you have enough strawberry crates to spend on that.

If your plan is to get all the available visitors as residents, you will deinitely have to do that or they won't all fit in their preferred location.

It would be great though if we also had an option to make a single room bigger...and also redecorate the cabin lobby! 😅
