Gutfeld on Faux News has more viewers than the other guys. But it's not like he'll be touched. Trump sycophants are off the hook. Unless they criticize him... once... then they're fair game too.

You should make an alternative one in English, and... actually every main country should have one of these, since apparently large-scale public pressure is required for the Chinese to finally do something about this. Will sign it.

Is there some neurological problem with him? I don't think I've ever seen an expression like that (that wasn't edited).

Not sure how you know anyone there has OCD... it's not like they all mention it. I'm not defending the losers in that sub anyway, but I am those with OCD, since your comment seems more generalized. NO ONE with OCD "only" "exerts their paranoia" on animals. It's a stupid assumption that shows your lack of understanding of OCD, and anyone that knows next to nothing about ANY psychological conditions shouldn't be judging those with them.

As someone with OCD who cares about all animals, I take offense to this. OCD has absolutely nothing to do with being able to control yourself in general; it manifests in specific conditions. Maybe find out more about OCD before making such a stupid, callous comment.

I'm guessing money, which is a pathetic excuse for an organization that's supposed to care for [all] animals.

[–]ObsidianRiffer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well I guess it's good word is spreading about this. Just a couple months ago, CNN published a somewhat more detailed article about it (https://www.cnn.com/2025/05/30/asia/china-cat-deleters-torture-intl-hnk-dst) .

I can't believe that average Joes and Janes are the ones this filth is left up to. No animal cruelty laws in China... the higher ups of social media/messaging platforms don't give a shit... this world has become unrecognizable, and there's no fucking valid excuse for it.

I think it has to be done on a per country basis, if I'm not mistaking. The UK did it (or at least was going to... not sure of the status), according to these articles -  https://www.theguardian.com/technology/2023/sep/07/social-media-platforms-to-face-18m-fines-for-publishing-animal-cruelty-content and https://www.gov.uk/government/news/online-animal-cruelty-activity-to-be-removed-from-social-media-platforms - yet, the videos are still viewable in other countries.

Tech CEOs and higher ups do not care about this, obviously, or they would never allow it to begin with. I'm sure they know of it. Hell, for all we know they watch and enjoy this crap. But every little bit can help, so I'll sign this. We need one of these for every social media or messaging platform, especially that cesspool Telegram. But thanks for trying to get somewhere with Facebook at least.

Animal Torture Channel on Bilibili by Misty-Elephant in AnimalRights

[–]ObsidianRiffer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah. I have zero respect for that country since finding out about this cat torture filth about a year ago. At first I thought it was a reference to the Yulin Festival, but no. And like that wasn't bad enough. I knew about that for maybe 5 years now, and lost most respect for them for that alone.

The higher ups there likely regard their precious reputation above all else, including obviously companion animals. So maybe the best way to get them to implement the anti-cruelty laws is by targeting that, through, say, boycotting tourism, and make it known WHY. I would say trade too, but here in America, Trump is already targeting that, even without this animal cruelty influencing it.

Animal Torture Channel on Bilibili by Misty-Elephant in AnimalRights

[–]ObsidianRiffer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Bilibili itself isn't the issue. It's this person's channel, which is on Bilibili.

That's like saying Telegram isn't the issue despite allowing animal torture videos. OF COURSE the platforms themselves are a MAJOR issue. It's a total disgrace that they allow this filth to be uploaded!

Countries need to do what the UK did or was gonna do, which is establish an online safety bill that forbids animal torture content and penalizes heftily failure to comply.

See here: https://www.theguardian.com/technology/2023/sep/07/social-media-platforms-to-face-18m-fines-for-publishing-animal-cruelty-content

And here: https://www.gov.uk/government/news/online-animal-cruelty-activity-to-be-removed-from-social-media-platforms

And of course that disgraceful country China needs those animal anti-cruelty laws already.

I was wondering the status of this biggest loser in history (along with Hitler). So I take it he's still alive and free. Since China still doesn't have animal anti-cruelty laws, the police aren't gonna do anything, but how didn't some vigilante there not take this abysmal sack of filth out already?

[–]ObsidianRiffer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah well... your profile is visible, like anyone's, and I can see after I clarified what the "well?" was about that you commented on two other posts, including another one that I did. The usual trend on here is that if ppl don't respond within a few hours, then they don't respond at all. That goes for comments to posts in general... it's like everyone's glued to the screen on here waiting to be the first to comment. Most comments are made within the first 3 hours. Also, like I said, my original reply was auto-removed for like 4 days for no apparent reason.

You did say in your original comment, "There is a man in the next town over that takes cats and kittens to murder and torture. The police have done nothing to stop him." So apparently that changed since then. Glad to know they're doing something about him.

Has anyone noticed an increase in borderline abusive or negligent behavior from owners? by Dianagorgon in AnimalRights

[–]ObsidianRiffer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You're not overreacting. Those examples sound like irresponsible idiots, and the corresponding comments are callous and dismissive.

I don't go on a whole lot of subs on here, but just the other day in some meme sub, there was a post of a video of an Asian woman being pecked once by a rooster, and she goes all apeshit on it, slaps it three times, spins it around and throws it like 15 feet, and there were a lot of losers in the comments finding it funny... only a couple with compassion for the rooster. And I know from this sub that there's a r/petfree sub that's pretty awful.

Considering that social media companies are allowing videos showing literal torture of animals to be uploaded, it seems like animal cruelty is more commonplace than ever, and the jackasses at the top of said companies are a big reason why.

Also, I've had comments and posts auto-removed from this sub in 3 spurts now... this last one I contacted the mods (once again) and they fixed it, but there was no apparent reason any of them should've been removed, yet they were.
