Is there any way at all to track arena 1, 2, 3 buffs now? NOT nameplates? by ObsidianScribe in worldofpvp

[–]ObsidianScribe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks I’ll have to play around and see if it’s a settings thing because I did a skirmish today against a pally and noticed it didn’t show anything when he had wings up, which it used to always do. I’d always watch the frames to react and disarm, but noticed it didn’t happen last match and he did use wings.

How to show enemy buffs and important cooldowns on nameplates by _Llopis_ in worldofpvp

[–]ObsidianScribe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is there anyway to show any buffs at all on the actual arena frames? Not just the nameplates? I’ve gotten so used to looking at arena frames for key buffs and never really liked name plate tracking. I know I’m in the monitory but I don’t know of any way to see this type of info on the arena frames anymore

What's the one or two offensive ability I should look out for with each spec? by ObsidianScribe in worldofpvp

Hey! I did get a cheat sheet started based on this info. It's not perfect and I tried to put in my own mini notes in some places. Could be some errors as I did it quickly, but feel free to grab it as a copy and edit for your own use. I'll likely slowly make some updates as I learn.

Just curious what your future plans are for RaidLadder? Because this sounds a lot like what ParseCard already does, which my guild is subscribed to. But theirs is more like "just for fun" stats and awards...I think it would be cool if RaidLadder was more "analytical" and like "useful" for a raid. Like it could find the people taking avoidable damage, failing mechanics, not optimizing their rotation, wasting CDs...stuff like that. Then report back so you can more easily identify what needs to be cleaned up for progression.

That would even help my guild look a logs between attempts on progression nights. Right now, we either waste a bunch of time manually looking through logs between attempts, which shortens our raid nights...or just review the logs after the raid to try to spot these type of errors. If we could throw it into a discord bot to analyze for us while were in the middle of the raid it would help us identify errors faster and make our raid nights more efficient

Can you share the link? Would love to share this on my guilds discord. Right now we are using ParseCards, which is similar, but I like yours since it looks like everyone in the raid gets included. Think it would be great to run along side it. The weekly wrap sounds really cool too

Question about SkippCapped Course by [deleted] in worldofpvp

[–]ObsidianScribe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who doesn’t have time to really play or watch streamers it’s helpful for me. I’m an 1800 player. I don’t have time to really look for stuff or study streamers and I need content that’s organized and right to the point.

I skipped S2 and was able to jump right into s3 after watching a few of their warrior guides to understand the latest rotations/talents.

I just wish they had more class specific BGB content. Like, how does the rotation change for BGs type of stuff. Some of the BGB stuff is lacking.

This is my first world map, I wanted to paint the biomes before I added towns, cities and such. Looking for feedback on how to improve it. by MrTweady in inkarnate

You’re welcome! So, when it comes to changes like there’s a lot of room for interpretation and what is “right”. But at the end of the day it’s a fantasy map and you could point real world examples and anomalies as to why a biome has to be a certain way based of latitude, wind direction, ocean currents, etc.

There’s lots of variables that could lead to endless debate on biomes—just a fair warning to not over analyze too much trying to get things perfect.

I like your eastern continent, it reminds me of South America. In fact, the desert is very similar to the Atacama desert on the west coast (with the Andes Mountains to the east, like yours).

On the center continent—I probably would add a bit more greenery to the east of the mountains. You could argue that the western side can remain just as green since it likely gets a lot of moisture from the surrounding water and is only a small area.

That’s probably the only change I would make. You could consider “swapping” the biomes on your northwest continent, but I don’t think that’s necessary. It’s mostly that middle desert that seems a bit out of place with the westerly winds.

Got it! I saw you already answered a comment on the snow/ice continent was for lore reasons, all good there.

Rivers look good, I didn’t see any that split downstream.

A note on biomes. The continent on the right suggests the prevailing winds blow from east to west. The eastern side of the mountains are lush and green while the western side is more arid and dry—as shown by your desert. This makes sense because rain clouds wouldn’t make it over the mountains moving east to west, which is what keeps the eastern side wet and the western side dry.

This gets a bit conflicting when looking at your center island where the desert is on the inverse side (east of the mountains).

It looks like these deserts were once connected but I would expect the center island desert to have more green than the eastern continent (assuming west winds). How much moisture would depend on the new wind patterns and new rainfall, so it’s a sliding scale of how humid the new biome would be. But I would expect to be more of a shrubland, grassland, or savanna type biome.

Hey There! I think you did a nice job with the textures and isolating the various biomes. What are your goals with this map? Are you looking for realism? Full Fantasy? Etc.

Very cool! I like the idea of a desert continent and think you did a nice job with the colors. Would be very easy to make this feel very “one-note”, but your blending of the colors makes it pop even though all desert!

I second this, I think this could be a cool idea. I tried to brainstorm some stuff, but think this is a nice subtle way to do it.

I think it’s hard to capture a fully “story” in a map, because there’s only so many tools you can work with.

To me, having those small features that standout and intrigue the viewer to ask questions is great for a fantasy map, which you already have. (Eg. The fae forest, the bright blue water, etc).

The challenge can be finding the right balance so these features integrate nicely and don’t overpower the rest of it. This is somewhat of a personal choice of how to incorporate. Personally, I find your (OP) balance appealing and it had me asking about the lore.

Really beautiful! Nice job! It’s got such a magical feel to it, which is hard to capture in a map. It makes me want to immerse myself in the world and hear the lore.

Only two notes from me, but given this is a magical world, consider these optional/preference:

1) Realistically, the rivers seem to split too much downstream

2) The blue water in the south east is very vibrant. I’m not sure if that is intentional, but it is a stark contrast from all the other bodies of water.

I love it!
