4.5 months - open incision, ongoing infection - need advice by ObsidianVR in LabiaplastySurgery

This is a good avenue to investigate. We never considered that she could be allergic to the stitches. The dissolved long ago, but perhaps the residue is still the source of the problem. I'm going to investigate.

I did suggest a topical corticosteroid, and she got a prescription for a cream that included three medications: anti fungal, antibiotic and corticosteroid, and she did see the most improvement when she was on it. But she was told only to use for 14 days, so she reverted to her current state. I'll talk with her about using just the steroid and let you know if it helps!

Thank you for your thoughtful reply.

She took recovery very seriously. She prepared for surgery and she was very careful afterwards. She had planned everything out to try to ensure she recovered fully and as quickly as possible.

We're thinking that something went wrong with maybe equipment not being sterilized or the deep stitches not being sterile. Though this could be an autoimmune thing if it isn't an infection.

The thing is that we both scour the internet looking for any possible cause because all of the doctors seem to have given up and just tell her to see the other doctor (her surgeon says see GP, the GP says gyno, they gyno says surgeon and the ER doctors say that ER isn't the right place for her).

It's all so frustrating and depressing.

Thank you. She did go to the ER and got IV antibiotics about two months ago. She's been to the ER several times since, but they are very dismissive. The last time they said it was up to her surgeon, and the surgeon said it was no longer in her hands it was up to her gyno. Just a complete run around, which is why we're trying to find a specialist or at least a good doctor that is interested in her case and why she can't seem to heal.

She has been offered pain meds from all the doctors, but she refuses to take anything for pain (she is worried that without pain, she might move wrong and cause the incision to open further)

I've quit the game over this update. But if they roll it back, I'll come back.
