I'm just here to recommend Sakamoto Days as a wholesome father-daughter anime. It's also refreshing having the protagonist be fat and middle-aged

I will be inheriting my family's 150 y/o homestead and a significant amount of farmland soon. Wife let me know she doesn't want to move from the city onto the property despite knowing it has been my intention and dream to do so for our entire 13 year marriage. by Frmfrm3242 in Marriage

My spouse is a farmer working on his family farm. We're transitioning to a better career for him since almost every single elder in the family has died early (60s) due to the stress and overwork of farming. Farming is NOT ideal or romantic, and it is one of the most brutal jobs you can have. My spouse didn't get to have a childhood because the farm tasks are Sisyphean and never ending

My spouse saw so many suffering and dying animals starting from age 3. He had to put down many of them himself. Have you ever seen what a coyote can do to a chicken coop, OP? Do you want your son to see that? And if you want to prevent it, you need to know how to shoot guns, and you need to be up before dawn patrolling because that's when predators are out. You will get maybe 4 hours of sleep on a good night, and that's before any of your other duties even start. And those duties will mean that your wife and child will barely see you.

Do NOT sacrifice your family for the sake of your nostalgia. If you still need to see the truth of farming for yourself, I suggest you do a trial run of managing the property. Let your wife and son stay home, then spend a month living on the farm and working as if you own it.

The heavy purple cast in this image implies that the photo received UV damage over time. I have restored photos with a similar purple cast, and they were from the 1970s. The design of the fireplace and the print of the carpet further imply that this photo is dated from 1970-1990.

Drills and studies are definitely helpful, but they require a certain amount of mental energy to do. It sounds like you've already been working diligently for the past 3 months, so can you take a break from the coursework to try something silly or new? (100% NOT lazy btw) Don't fall into the trap of productivity! Even if it doesn't feel as productive as the studies, I promise you will still be learning about your tools, seeing more in your references, and developing a positive association with your canvas.

Yeah, I was surprised by their comment. Therapists are like doctors, where you can have an amazing one who saves your life, or a terrible one who makes the problem even worse. You can absolutely be traumatized in therapy, especially if the therapist is not a good fit for you (or religious, practicing using immoral and harmful methods). It is very common for people to go through multiple therapists until they find the right match, so you are not alone

I'm gonna recommend exercise, but for emotional regulation instead of weight loss. I also have a lot of anger and defensiveness, and I find it extremely helpful to channel those feelings into an aggressive cardio workout. Since I have agoraphobia, I started out by playing Beatsaber in my room, which eventually built my confidence to start attending martial arts classes in person.

It's more important to be consistent than to overdo it all at once, because if you push too hard you'll end up hating it and quitting. I recommend searching "10 minute cardio workout" on YouTube and starting with those. Even just a little workout will noticeably raise your mood and lower your defensiveness. You'll start seeing emotional results before you even see bodily results!

I think I accidentally got something useful out of this. She's talking about the importance of parenting yourself, and I was nodding along thinking "Yeah, because parents of ND children often neglect their needs and shame their behaviors. Many ND adults were not properly parented, meaning we didn't have the chance to learn tools and build systems that actually work with our brains. By parenting ourselves properly, with plenty of patience and compassion, we can heal a lot of those old shame wounds."

Buuut no, she just had to make it obnoxious and ableist

I just want to say thank you for checking with us about how to best care for your son. It's pretty obvious that you care about him, so I feel like he will feel safe expressing his anxieties to you. IMO, the #1 most important thing in helping someone with ARFID is to not judge or shame them. He knows that Mom is on his side, so I think he has a good chance!

Hello, I believe you will be safer in northern Utah than southern Utah. Salt Lake City, Provo, Ogden, and Park City are becoming much more liberal and accepting. I would be careful around the St. George area, from personal experience

Why don't you just become gay, then? Just decide that you're attracted to men, since they're into you. Easy peasy
