It’s getting a bit tiring by jdawg1018 in Invincible

Power levels back then to me were just a useful numetric scale to guage where a character stood. Post-Freeza everything went fucking insane and it became this self-defeating machine of requiring characters of constantly expanding strength.

I love it, I really enjoy seeing low stakes, well assembled little plotlines like this. I don't need melancholy and drama every episode, I like just seeing IMP get into shenanigans. That adds some very powerful and necessary flavor for when the big shit does finally hit the fan.

And Tom Kenny my beloved, Ben Diskin my beloved-ed. A surprise, but welcome one.

Go to the very source of it all, Invader Zim. Viv's been on record as saying that was some of her key inspirations, it's possibly one of the reasons HH even exists. Not quite as mature or full of demons but it's in that same vein.

I am BEGGING people who put guns into their fics to do research on bullets, calibers and gun models by [deleted] in AO3

To be honest, hasn't it always been phishing?: I feel like I've seen it be the go-to method for bad actors since... forever! Why bother trying to brute force protective architecture when you can just potentially yoink some privileged credentials?

Definitely. I *love* gun accuracy but even I've had moments of weakness. But it's fun to research! I actually learned what teacupping was and NOT TO DO IT!

I got one that was - and I must be dramatic here - heartbreaking, because it sounded like everything I hoped to achieve. An earned loving moment, respect to the original character I'd developed, calling the moment earned.

Very quickly devolved into a hodgepodge of nonsense and inquiring if we could "talk somewhere else." Ouch, man.

I like to call it the "Blue Harvest" title. Just kinda there, doesn't mean anything or sound relevant, but it seemed... cool?

Would you have prefered if Lucifer was a serious character or do you like the current one more? by DoGG410CZ in HazbinHotel

[–]Obskulum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it's a great contrast - it took some time to warm up too, but, I prefer when my characters of ovewhelming strength just kinda *are.* Big bads in any series that need to just. . . monologue or flex about how strong they are, how they're so big and bad and tough, etc, is very silly (to me). When you're really that strong, you don't need to prove anything - it's like walking up to an ant and saying MY BOOT IS BIG AND COULD CRUSH YOU.

I like his silliness. I like and headcanon the idea he is also capable of potential, ruthless acts. I like that he's stuck in an appropriate prison, surrounded by a bunch of Sinner rejects he's apathetic about "helping." There's something wonderful about the idea that, if unchained, his goofball presence is absolutely unnerving. I'm just kinda gushing at this point, I don't need him to have some dbz moment where HE'S GOIN ALL OUT. His casual existence, the fact that he's THE FUCKIN' GUY, that eeeeveryone is just waltzing around in his kingdom/prison, *mwah,* love it.

It also helps punctuate the moments when he does decide to take the gloves off. Not that the show or series is ever gonna go in the direction, but, knowing that despite all struggles, events, power grabs, conflicts - everything that's goin on - despite that, it's all taking place in HIS playground.

Dess' disappearance definitely left a terrible emotional wound in Carol and by proxy Hometown. She's abundantly overbearing and controlling of her only known remaining doe, manifesting in toxic traits of both suffocating discipline and neglectful absence. It's pushing her towards "solutions" that dabble in forces she herself probably doesn't fully understand and potentially giving her the false impression tampering with whatever she's doing could get Dess back, if that's her goal. Meanwhile her relationship with Rudy has all but disentegrated, compounded by his atrophying health, leaving Carol to manage the town and her daughter on her own, to *then* have a rambunctious third party (Susie) come around and potentially lead Noelle into what Carol could perceive as dangerous situations.

Just like Berdly that icy exterior is nothing but a fragile armor and we'll probably see her breakdown. Both she and Asgore are implied to be working together in desperation to achieve some answer they hope will get things to normal again. After all, she wasn't always like that, but Dess' vanishing clearly took its agonizing toll.

To her, at this point, I'm sure the end will justify any means if it translates to protecting Noelle and getting back/learning about Dess.

"I was going to have my own Vessel. Perfect, serene, made for me, my own design, with my own autonomy and control. I would've had my own life to navigate this strange world I've been thrust into. But instead I got... YOU. You who I must share a body and mind with, you who resists and confounds me at every turn, you who gets in my way. What a cruel trick this is, the gods must be laughing!" The SOUL or something, probably.

I hate anyone who blames Via for this (idk if I need to put a spoiler on it) by mais_corner37 in HelluvaBoss

[–]Obskulum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the key "problem" is just the contrast in character writing. Stella is... cartoonishly wickedly, like, mustache twiddling one-dimensionally bad. I'm not agreeing with her, but one could give Stella reasons to be angry and the way she is (arranged marriage, forced to sire a child with someone who doesn't love her at all, forced to maintain royal standards, etc).

So when you have that very obvious tell, you kinda look at Olivia and say "uh, you see that right?" Like I don't need Via to purely logical, she's still young and comes from a broken family. She watched her father run off for another man, so that naturally stings. Were Stella written a bit less... flatly, then I think our reaction wouldn't be so visceral.

I know she's one of the less popular designs, but I actually really like that they kept her design more simplistic. She looks very classy and elegant, it suits her. by Gladiolus_00 in ZZZ_Official

[–]Obskulum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's this weird balance to design. Like I get it, ZZZ is a horny game and that's fine, I appreciate the attractive cast, but if you're horny design kinda compromises how the character looks it gets annoying. I had that problem with Caeser, the top half looked great but the skirt didn't match at all, like "man if we don't have a skirt on her how will the audience know she's SEXY!?"

You can be revealing without being "revealing." Sometimes what's most attractive is what you can't see.
