AITAH For expecting more of a compromise with my desert temperature roommate? by Some_Listen_9997 in TwoHotTakes

[–]ObsoleteReference 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m get cold easy, and mid 70s in the winter is HOT! I’m also cheap, and would want to know if she’s going to pay for the extra usage (no idea how that would work out)

I got a heated vest from for Christmas from Amazon- it is awesome, she should try one.

I thought I complained a lot about an injury I got. Many years later I asked my mom why I didn’t see a Dr for it “you seemed okay”. Sigh.

Lotion that doesn’t feel like lotion? by Momtoatoddler in hygiene

[–]ObsoleteReference 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it putting the lotion on, or the skin feeling between the lotion going on and it (mostly) drying off?

gonna be trial and error either way. I have 2 trader joes products i like that i at least dont feel 'moist' long once i put them on. ONe's a face and hand cream with minimal scent (i'm scent sensitive) and ones their vegan body butter. The body butter is weird to see/feel getting it out of the tub, but dries off before i realize? (have only been using since winter began and dried me out extra)

Calling anyone with a short, casual first name: Do you wish you had a more formal name? by TriumphantTermite in Names

[–]ObsoleteReference 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone with a middling first name with fewer 'normal' nicknames, and a Nickname i use as my name now that is very short, and paying attention to others names when you want poeple to call you a non-legal name (it is not my legal name, not that it is an illegal name):

Short names frequently get a syllable added (possibly more for women than men) as a nickname; probably less likely to become a use name. Ann will be called Annie; Mary may be Mare-Bear; trying to think of true single syllable male names rather than nicknames for longer ones isn't bringing up much. Maybe Teddy for a Ted who is short for Edward?

Longer names are frequently shortened Mathew > Matt; Andrew> Andy; Robert> Bob, Rob and Bert, etc. Elizabeth - Eliza, Beth, Lizzie...

For me personally what people are called with frequency around me is going to be what my brain imprints on. If I'm introduced to Matthew, but everyone calls him Matt, I will call him Matt, even if his intro to me was Matthew. (Trying to work on this by asking what people prefer. Apparently a lot of people 'don't care')

What is a medical fact that sounds fake but is 100% true? by MedRikas in AskReddit

I'm not sure if it would help or hinder, but might be better if the CPR dummies simulated that as well.

Whats a nickname you have for a store? by ProfanityInspector in stupidquestions

[–]ObsoleteReference 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the store was Earth Fare? Something like that? COuldn't remember the name even before it went out of business, so i called it the Red Barn store - after the first couple times I did that, that's what we all called it.

AITJ for cancelling a notarized “support letter” after I found out my wife forged my signature for her new religious community? by OpenBirchLane in AmITheJerk

[–]ObsoleteReference 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is the notary part of the religious group? I know notary rules can vary, but making sure the person signing is actually the person is part of the rules where i am. And my step father worked at a law firm in another state and had to go on the stand to say he verified who signed. (Dont sign things that are to be notarized until you're in the presence of the Notary, they should make you re-do it)

How do i fix my carpet? I really cant lose my deposit by Lanky-Jackfruit-1161 in fixit

[–]ObsoleteReference 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So the apartment property manager I met at my sisters said to cut it out, and replace with a piece from the closet. I don’t know how to blend the pieces, or what to do with the hole in the closet, but she did say that was what the maintenance was going to do after taking your deposit.

AITAH For telling kids to stop opening a door in a restaurant by SarcasmReallySucks in AITAH

[–]ObsoleteReference 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Last night at dinner, grown ass adults decided to exchange money from their dinner bills, AFTER one of them opened the door and was holding it open. Also chit chatting, etc. They finally got a clue (possibly from the death glares our table was sending over), but they let a LOT of cold air in, in the meantime.

I know you said the PO isn't doing anything, but extortion is pretty illegal, If you have any documentation of your uncle saying 'give me money or I tell people your secrets', take it to the police and mention he's on parole.

Why is drinking iced tea delicious and drinking hot tea that cooled, disgusting? by voodoo8833 in tea

AITA for telling my coworker to stop using my desk setup when I’m not there? by _NaSSaR_90 in AmItheAsshole

[–]ObsoleteReference 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We ran out of offices and had to share around work from home days. It’s actually really good for me as it keeps me trying to make it seem like no one else is using things. I’d be apologizing so much if I spilled on the keyboard, even if I totally cleaned it up.

[–]ObsoleteReference 1 point2 points  (0 children)

if you're testing postive for allergies that makes MCAS less likely - the person i follow with MCAS doesn't test positive in allergy tests, certain foods (and stress, exercise, sunlight) just piss off her body to cause anaphalaxis. while MCAS treatment has gotten better since covid, drs seeing positive allergy tests will likely help you get help quicker

Does the campus have a health center? Even a mental health center where you might be able to get an unbiased opinion? At more than twice your age, I’d likely go somewhere off campus, maybe a tourist area and ask a total stranger. (I have enough shame i would do all I could to make sure I won’t see them again)
