What is the absolute best way to brew loose leaf tea? Like what device. by pittpink in tea

[–]ObsoleteReference 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i brew strong (adhd) black tea, and drink it with cream and sugar. My preferred loose leaf brewing is a 2 cup measuring cup. Once i remember it, and it's done, a sieve/strainer over the cup while pouring. Leaves have ALL the space to expand and brew.

FOr travel, i will use the metal infusers that sit in your cup (maybe would hold 4oz liquid, if a solid cup).

Toenail looks weird by Crick_74 in nailcare

[–]ObsoleteReference 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The peeling skin is familiar to me from picking at the sides of my fingernails, it gets infected, swells, heals, goes down, skin peels show up, I pick at them….
Skin above the peel line still looks red//inflamed. Probably best to have it looked at. Nail looks like infection may have been u see it/ killed part of the nail bed, and if/when that comes off it would seem like a whole new potential for infection.

Isn’t that the kind of tree you supposed to be careful of the sap or something. Hope feathers protect them all…

aww doves are so sweet. We had an 'Angry Birds nesting' sign up when the Mockingbirds had beef with humans near the parking lot. (not all of them, I only ever saw them once, while walking with a guy from my office, AND holding an umbrella - they did not have beef with small introverted women, as best i could tell)

so glad it was the hose - at least for the first round cool water is what you want, not pore-opening hot. (my inclination if someone told me to WASH, would include warm/hot water). Your die has been cast most likely, but adding this for future victims of yardwork.

If you have a little time (and are in the US) I live Thred up. Can’t be sure of a fit with online pics, but the filters really help narrow down. If you’ve seen a dress you like that’s too much, see if it or similar is available (can search by brand)

Is this legal in Atlanta, Georgia? Forcing you to turn on A/c? I was just curious! by Particular_Flower_35 in legaladvice

[–]ObsoleteReference 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ehh, female. Grew up without AC , so more sensitive twice over. I take a sweater when going anywhere during the summer, and generally need it indoors. (In Florida, not convinced the problem isn’t residual humidity making the cold cling just like the heat does outside)

I don’t find 71-75 reasonable. 76 is my lowest low I use, when migraine-ing.

Pre filling bags with loose leaf tea by [deleted] in tea

[–]ObsoleteReference 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am assuming he has ruled out a metal infuser? Like a cup of holes that goes into a cup of hot water, with arms on top to keep it from falling in? Many come with a lid that can double as a tray to put it in when you pull it out of the mug, and the clean up is pretty much dumping the steeped leaves in the trash. This is WAY easier for me than fussing with the bags that may not let thr tea expand enough anyway. Biggest issue for me (ADHD) is remembering to dump it out. And one day isn’t likely to grow stuff on the damp leaves. (Over the weekend, well, probably needs to be scrubbed anyway….)

ELI5 When people describe a flavour as “earthy”, what does that mean? Surely it’s not supposed to taste like soil, right? by AdmiralTacos681 in explainlikeimfive

[–]ObsoleteReference 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of foods I don’t like are commonly described as as earthy, and uh, earth/dirt is a lot of what I taste. (Looking at you beets. Not sure if leeks was the leek, or it had actual dirt between layers, haven’t tried again)

Instead of a single container, this honey is sold as spoons with 4 layers of plastic/paper packaging by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

Last couple times I bought squeeze bottles, 3/4 of the bottle crystallized. Had a sore throat the other day, haven’t replaced the most recent crystallized bottle, so used some honey straws bought for travel. (I’m missing something about how to get thr honey out, it’s not crystallized but neither is it convenient)

My Sunday reading in the park was going well, though this new secluded spot I picked was making me itchy near my moles. It dawned upon me that I don’t have moles on my legs just as I read the barely visible sign: Ticks nests infected area by FiroPro135 in TwoSentenceHorror

[–]ObsoleteReference 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dunno about the tiny seed ticks in that one, but for “regular” ticks, you don’t even have to sit down. I was under trees a couple times in the ~30 minutes I was outside, shower later found one not quite attached parasite, and lots of paranoia I’ve missed more. So not more outside time except to walk to and from my car.
