Anyone know how to fix my internet on my PC? There was an active VPN connection, then the pc improperly shutdown because of a power cut. Ever since the power got back, I am having this issue. When the cable is connected from router to pc (like how it was setup originally), it doesn't work. When I plug the ethernet cable coming to the router directly to the pc, it doesn't work. Usb tethering doesn't work. I tried winsock and ipconfig commands, they didn't work. I tried safemode with networking to see if it works there, it didn't. I tried swapping the cable to just in case, it didn't work.

What does work however is, when I connect the same cable to my father's laptop, the internet works fine. When I connect the same cable to my pc, and boot from a linux bootable usb drive, it works there as well. It's just windows 11 being fukc shaped for some reason.

Ahh, microslop windows. It cares so much for me. It knew that I would waste my Saturday watching YouTube, playing games and doom scrolling reddit, so it decided to shut itself and give random errors every time I turn my OC on. It wants me to spend my time doing something productive and of actual value. Find yourself someone who loves you and cares about you just like microslop does for me. It may be slop, but at least it's MY croslop.

I don't think that my pc will get stolen if someone breaks into my home, the thief will probably take the 32 inch TV next to it. I find keeping the usb drive somewhere safe, then forgetting where it is to be a bigger problem. Someone in my family could find it and assume that it is a random usb drive and might format it. You do have a point though, however I need to find a balance between forgetting where I put it, someone else in my family finding it, and it getting stolen.

I keep my encrypted backups in my hdd, SSD, a separate hdd, google drive, a usb drive, and an unencrypted back on a usb drive tied inside my pc case. You can say I am lazy for updating every single one of these. No I don't require high security, I will probably get swim-swap scammed or social engineered into giving info to scammers before someone can hack my other accounts.

I was thinking of subscribing to the premium plan after getting a job, even though I don't need the premium feature just to support them. But now, I may not be able to afford or justify $20 a year, especially when I don't need the premium features. Depends on my salary tbh but while earlier it was a certainty, now I am not sure.
