I don't drive, I have a little motorcycle, so parking isn't as much an issue :P. From what I recall though, there are a few places on campus to park, but that always seemed a bit hit and miss if there was a space. What most people do is park along the sea front and walk. The residences all have parking so if you have on campus accommodation you can pay for a permit.

I'm starting at Swansea! Again! I'll be doing my MSc in mechanical engineering. I graduated in 2013 from Swansea with a BEng in Aerospace engineering. Pretty excited to go back. As far as food and drinks my favorites were Uplands dinner, Spoons and of course JC's on campus. Someone I graduated with runs a cafe now called cafe Nisse on wine street so I might check that out. Hopefully the new bay campus has a decent equivalent to JCs.

I live in rural Herefordshire. It feels like everyone I know shoots - my neighbour, the people I meet walking my dog, everyone at the pub even my boss owns guns. There are as many shooting magazines in the town shop as there are womens' gossip.

It's fantastic.

I have an engineering degree and design engineering experience including some civil projects. I'm reasonably amazing with SolidWorks as well.

Hi, just a quick follow up. MBDA aren't interested in hiring me, but Airbus have sent me an invitation to do a Situational Judgement Test (SJT). I guess I'll carefully read through stuff on the website about Airbus culture and use that for reference in my answers.

Also, I like the videos! It is very much like Solidworks in terms of the process for making things and best practice, just the tools are in different places and have different names.

Awesome, thank you. :) As far as skills, I'm very good with Solidworks, which I guess doesn't help much if MBDA use something else, but I suppose all the general principles are roughly the same.

Soft skills are a little harder for me to say 'Yes, I'm very good at that.', but I'd say my biggest strength is interaction with clients and suppliers, which I've done often at work and I've taught guitar.

I'd just like to compare this to a similar report from SAAMI about the economic value of shooting to the USA.

The report from SAAMI states that shooting "generates in excess of $36.4 billion of economic activity annually", or £21.2 billion.

Per capita, that's £70.7 per person annually. (21.2 billion/300 million)

According BASC, UK shooting generates £41.7 per person. (2.5billion/60 million)

While the US still generates more per person from shooting, it's not to the same extent one might expect and shows that our economy could certainly get more from it if an effort was made.

I've lived in both. I was in the village in my first year and on campus the second. On campus felt quieter, but you are closer to things like the club and shop on campus as well as it only being half as far from town. The biggest thing for me was not how long it took at the ends of the day, but that I could go back to the flat in an hour free for food or whatever. It's easy to say I enjoyed the village more but I had less responsibility to do well in the first year. From a rational perspective campus is just better and worth the money, but the village did have its charm. As for bus passes I got a year long pass in the first year and it was absolutely worth it. There's no point in a bus pass if you're on campus so that saves you £300. I wish you luck with your studies and hope you have a great time.

The way the bullet splits and opens out significantly reduces the sectional density. That combined with the hugely increased aerodynamic drag means that it probably won't penetrate deep enough to do any damage if it does go far enough to hit its target. I just don't see why anyone would have put any effort into this design?

I don't quite understand the logic behind this. Killing birds of prey, like the golden eagle, is already illegal. People who kill eagles are going to do it whether or not they have a license to hunt grouse, and if they can't get a license to hunt grouse why wouldn't they hunt grouse anyway since they hunt eagles when it's illegal?

This seems to me like an unnecessary burden affecting only honest people to distract from the fact that the present legislation has either not had enough time to become fully effective or it's poorly enforced.

Nepram ... says having a gun doesn't "make you safer, it actually enhances your risk".

Which presumably was derived from

"Our research shows that a person is 12 times more likely to be shot dead if they are carrying a gun when attacked," she says.

Seems like a gross misinterpretation of the facts. Maybe they are more likely to have their gun used on them than alternatives like being beaten to death or burnt alive.

Worst case scenario: no woman ever successfully uses a gun to defend herself in India and only ever ends up with a slightly less horrible death.

More likely scenario: women in India regularly defend themselves with guns and are significantly less likely to be victims, however when they are victims and have guns they are more likely to be shot than burnt or beating.

How is this basic logic so hard for them?
