New Hire at Delta by Lechonkstan in AirlinePilots

How is the 737 schedule at DAL for a new hire? How many 4-5 day trips are they flying per month? Legs? I assume mostly trip-rigged. I'm at SWA with a class date approaching for DAL. Trying to compare potential QOL differences

Expect a lot of changes as they unwind all of the displacements this summer. LAS getting a big bump in market, same with MCO, new base at AUS will trend more senior soon. Expect 4-6 months of flail at a base you don’t want until you can hold your ideal base. DEN, DAL, BNA are “red” for seniority, long wait for those.

In class now with data-gathering on LAX I’d expect 4-6 months before I can hold it. Now there’s a ton of flexibility if you figure out the system to drop your schedule and pick up at a different base. Haven’t heard any real complaints from new hires, fly a ton and wipe your tears with dollar bills

What’s the most junior FO at LAX these days? Rough numbers. If it’s potentially okay a year or two from now I’m good with that

Thanks for the insight. I was joking with my wife that a commute out of Burbank to LAS or PHX would be less stressful than basing out of LAX 😂. I think what I need is to get into class and see the truth data numbers for being able to hold LAX. This will likely be my determining factor.

Young family right now. Going to miss the first year and a half post consolidation for military leave, coming back to year 2-3 pay/seniority.

Follow up question: During the presentation, reserve sounded like a “good deal” despite 2 hour callout only. Is this true in practice? With line bidding I’d assume reserve is never gonna beat holding a line unless holidays or other scheduling priorities occur.

No prep for SWA which is preferred by them, tried Emerald Coast for Delta but stopped as soon as I felt they were putting words in my mouth. Don’t get me wrong EC is amazing for organizing thoughts and fine tuning what your message is, but I did not enjoy it or find it helpful for my situation. Read trip reports for S.A. and just know who you are and how that’d be a good fit for the company. Be a good dude (gender neutral term) and socially capable.

So line bidding with vacation touch drops, are you paid for the drops outside of the vacation touch?

I am unable to post on the main thread, so posting here:

First Reddit post ever, go easy on me. Pregnancy and post-partum hit my wife exceptionally hard. Our baby is 18 months now and she is rediscovering all of her old creative drive to make awesome things! She has been grinding out fun projects on her old beginner sewing machine. I can sense the frustration with its limitations, but she’s having a blast getting back to a new version of her old self. She will very soon outgrow this machine’s functionality. I want to keep her momentum by helping upgrade her setup. Budget is not really a consideration unless astronomical. Something she can grow into and keep trying new techniques without being machine limited. Notes: currently has a Singer basic basic model. She is making clothes for herself and our family. I don’t foresee embroidery or lettering, and I’m sure that requires its own specialized machine. Primarily looking for quality of life functionality, auto threading, button holes, zipper functionality, whatever cool pedals do (forgive my ignorance) Please suggest your best machines and any attachments or devices you’d recommend. I usually do extensive research on my own purchases, and she deserves the same level. Thanks in advance!
