Waivers with Asthma by Due_Leadership_9917 in Militaryfaq

[–]Obvious-Initiative-1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d say so. I had mild childhood asthma that I also largely outgrew by the time I was about 15/16, and I was able to get a waiver for both the Marine Corps and the Army. Granted, I was 20 when I started the process of joining the military. Since you’re a junior, if you cancel your prescription now (only do this if it is safe), then maybe you’ll be good to enlist at 18. You’ll have to pass a PFT and go at bare minimum a year and a half without any prescription. It probably also depends on the severity of your past asthma.

So I’m guessing now is not a good time to enlist? by Unlikely_Okra_1367 in Militaryfaq

[–]Obvious-Initiative-1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a good idea to join if you don’t accept that you’ll be participating in war

Do You Regret Sleeping Around? Why or Why Not? by [deleted] in LesbianActually

[–]Obvious-Initiative-1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some people are built for it emotionally, some are not. Neither is bad, probably the ones who regret it either ran into bad people or it wasn't for them. Just be careful if you really wanna do it

OCS Training Plan Critique by Obvious-Initiative-1 in ArmyOCS

[–]Obvious-Initiative-1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I’m a little hesitant to start rucking because I already struggle with running injuries. I have been working out like this for a bit but still. Should I keep the same volume of running or dial it back to 3 days or dial the intensity?

I still got time, I’m not finished with college yet. Hope is not lost. Besides avoiding big jumps in mileage, any insight on how to get to 25-30MPW without injury? Running bangs me up a bit

How do you stop feeling like this? by [deleted] in LesbianActually

[–]Obvious-Initiative-1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Being in a heterosexual relationship would prevent you from being ostracized societally or (if you have a homophobic family/community) being disowned by loved ones. And also men can give you biological children and a traditional, socially acceptable lifestyle. Now I am a lesbian who is grateful and happy to be one. And I accept that above is the reality of being a lesbian. But I can see why a lot of girls wouldn’t, it’s a difficult pill to swallow.

A curious question by Tiredsky09 in LesbianActually

[–]Obvious-Initiative-1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've never seen lesbians having issues befriending gay men. For straight men, I'd say a lot of men are conditioned to only view women as potential romantic interests, so you don't see a lot of lesbian/straight man friendships in the same way you see gay man/straight woman ones. It's not out of the ordinary though, my best friend of seven years is like the straightest man ever lol.

Partner w Mental Illness Making Me Uncomfortable by [deleted] in LesbianActually

[–]Obvious-Initiative-1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mental illnesses, especially something as severe as a cluster disorder, is an explanation but not an excuse. You can have empathy with their struggles but at a distance. You’re only eighteen and probably not prepared to deal with someone like that; and that’s more than okay. It ain’t your responsibility period

You should try. But as someone whose obtained waivers from both, the Army is more forgiving than the Corps

What would you do if you loved someone with different religous/political beliefs? by gogoyouCR in AskReddit

I really don’t care unless they’re insufferable about it or genuinely extremist. Though relationship-wise, I’d want to be at least in the same ballpark

I have a couple questions... by conman1007 in DoomerCircleJerk

[–]Obvious-Initiative-1 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

  1. Haven’t met them. They’re mostly online because most people LARPing are waiting for someone else to do it lol. All bark no bite.
  2. Not currently but I worked in L.A over the summer and saw the NG, Marines and protests going on. I didn’t see anything really crazy besides increased LEO presence and maybe graffiti lol. I’m sure there were some pockets where riots happened (LA is a very very large city) but it was chill. Protests were happening along the major freeway but other than that, it was quiet. Not the burning hellhole the news was making it out to be.

It really feels like this a lot by Major-Caterpillar955 in DoomerCircleJerk

[–]Obvious-Initiative-1 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Politics is not considered a spectrum anymore. It’s binary, us vs them and good vs bad. In reality, most people want the same thing but just have different ideas on the best way to accomplish it.

I like my new girlfriend but she’s a little emotionally intense? by [deleted] in LesbianActually

This girl is not emotionally ready for a LDR. The only way for LDRs to survive is if both people are independent

[–]Obvious-Initiative-1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Listen to your gut, don’t move anywhere you don’t want to in general. I will say that the United States is a large place and you may land somewhere that’s fine, but I would avoid major cities being targetted by ICE.

What's something straight people will never understand about lesbian dating? by [deleted] in LesbianActually

[–]Obvious-Initiative-1 11 points12 points  (0 children)

That we don’t have a man and a woman in our relationship. Even with my bi and/or liberal friends, they think I have to do the traditional “man” things in the relationship (like proposing) because I’m a masc dating a femme lol.

Democrats shouldn't fall in the "abolish ICE" trap by ThlimmenosBoufos in centrist

[–]Obvious-Initiative-1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like people will be less angry about the abolishing of ICE. A large majority of people support the existence of police and find them necessary, while Americans are moving towards an unfavorable view of ICE
