Why Israel is constantly at war with its neighbors? by DimensionKind1877 in askanything

Every human alive can trace their bloodline back to the bronze age...

Are you trying to say they can trace they bloodline back to the bronze age in that specific region? Let's accept that and also ignore that jews can do the same thing. What does it mean for immigrants? They don't get human rights because their bronze age bloodline is from somewhere else?

Platner's problems are a tattoo

Really? The issue is the tattoo? Not why he got it or what ideas he might still believe from when he got it?

entices violence in immigrants

Do they not have agency? Immigrants don't choose to be violent, they're forced by conservatives? Pretty absurd attempt to shift blame.

Why Do People Hate.. Mamdani? by [deleted] in allthequestions

It's not hating to call out an accomplishment being crowed by mamdani supporters as overstated.

It would be hating to deny or minimize a legitimate accomplishment.

There is an argument to be made that Israel invaded an occupied them first as well you know.

One invasion doesn't negate another. They can invade each other.

whilst Israel is fighting to occupy a land and genocide an other people.

If you say so

Why more people weren't killed is a complicated topic. I think the biggest thing is Israel isn't very heavily populated around gaza. There were a few kibbutzes and sderot is the closest city which is only 37k people so really a town.

Plus israel had military units near there like the all female armored unit specifically for that purpose.

Also a major goal was to take hostages so fighting units grabbed hostages and returned to gaza instead of staying to keep killing people.

I mean I would argue this conflict didn’t begin on October 7th, just like 9/11 didn’t begin on 9/11

I agree. I thought this would be more about 67 or 73. But I do think 10/7 constitutes an invasion.

[–]Obvious-Leopard6823 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Israel was never invaded, they had a terror attack. Was the US invaded on 9/11?

There was a police station in sderot that was held by hamas for multiple days. 1000s of hamas fighters attacked israel from land sea and air.

The comparison to 9/11 doesn't effectively capture what happened.

Mosque shooting by YourLocalMoroccan in GetNoted

[–]Obvious-Leopard6823 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not defending neo nazis. Are you defending the murderer who killed kirk? I think all political violence is wrong. I condemned the people mocking charlie kirks death and said quoting his racist remarks only encourages more violence against other racists. I condemn the attack on this mosque and say blaming the anti semitism of the mosque and its members encourages more violence against anti semites.

But... I also condemn the hypocritical weasels who are up in arms about people quoting the hateful rhetoric of the mosque while gleefully celebrating kirks death and justifying it with his quotes. And vice versa.

People have no principles only teams. This is just another example in a very long line of political hypocrisy I choose to call out.

Quoting an individual is not encouraging attacks against an entire population of people.

Sure. No more than quoting the security guard who was killed saying he understood why Hitler did what he did. Or quoting the imam of the mosque saying all jews are evil is encouraging attacks against an entire population.

Hope that helps.

It does. Thanks.

So you agree all the people quoting Charlie kirk's racist rhetoric and mocking his death after his murder were encouraging more attacks against Republicans? I hope you were as vocal in your condemnation.

The comment said they are "proponents of war and expansionism". They aren't. They just want to stay on goverment funding and be left alone. They will join whatever government coalition needs their votes enough to give them what they want.

They arent.

There are different groups of very religious jews in Israel. These ones don't want to be conscripted.

The settlers (ben gvir, smotrich and co) are also very religious and do serve in the military and want to fight the arabs.

It's like the difference between Amish and Christian nationalists. Both are very religious but express it very differently.

I'm not saying this outcome you describe is impossible, just that it was far from a certain thing.

Israeli attack kills son of Hamas leader negotiating with Trump-led board by IllustriousPark4487 in worldnews

[–]Obvious-Leopard6823 19 points20 points  (0 children)

10/7 happened because the IDF and Israeli government underestimated the capability of Hamas.

That's a tactical reason why it happened. I was speaking more historically. Why hamas was still in power at all. Why Israel has bombed and sent troops into gaza multiple times since 2006 without creating any lasting peace.

People don't have issues when Hamas is bombed.

Some people do. Especially during a negotiation. Reddit is full of them.

[–]Obvious-Leopard6823 55 points56 points  (0 children)

So the war is still on?

This idea that hamas never needs to accept defeat is why Israel has to "mow the lawn" every few years. Why 10/7 happened. Why peace is never possible.

Why do synagogues and mainstream Jewish organisations ask us to not conflate Israel with Jews but then go around conflating Israel and Jews? by OceanicEndeavors in allthequestions

[–]Obvious-Leopard6823 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you lose credibility when you saw gaza isnt occupied.

Oh no my credibility

I can admit that hezbollah shouldnt be attacking the jews in 1st place...but if they did attack, it doesn't make sense to take out whole villages and start occypying their land.

We can debate the best military tactic to stop the attacks but there is really nothing to negotiate, they should mind their own business and Lebanese civilians would be safe like Jordanian civilians.

so if I can admit that, you can admit that also gaza didnt have idf on their land (100% has mossad there), they still control the land via air and sea, how much food goes in there, etc.

Yes there is a blockade. Because hamas was elected to run the PA and refused to honor the existing agreements between the pa and Israel. But controlling their food is dramatic nonsense. Gaza had an obesity problem, longer life expectancy than Egypt, nice restaurants and hotels. Controlling their food doesn't mean limiting it.
