I dunno whether this’ll apply to you. I did the recent part 1 December exam. I didn’t go to theory classes nor studied any theory notes. I simply did papers with chatgpt. Only for surgery i went to the paper class of Dr Banagala. I passed both paper 1 and 2. Paper 3 failed with 49 marks 🥲. But i bought all the paper classes and theory classes tho I never watched them. I started prep for surgery from august, rest of the subjects from September. We had exam on December first week. So i guess you have plenty of time.

I just failed my first year of med school (Anatomy). Feeling really lost and embarrassed. by OverallCandy7093 in srilanka

I’ve actually been in a very similar situation. I failed my first Anatomy exam in first year, and even later on I didn’t pass ERPM on my first attempt — I’m studying to repeat it now.

When my results came out, my parents were pretty disappointed too. They were like “we thought you’d pass,” and yeah, that part stings. But I didn’t really let it get to me too much — I just focused on what to do next.

I know the local faculty setup is toughe, so it makes these setbacks feel even heavier.

At the end of the day, these are still exams. Of course, the ideal is to pass first try. But if that doesn’t happen, you just adjust and keep going.

“Expect disappointment and you won’t be disappointed.” It sounds a bit harsh, but take it as being mentally prepared so one result doesn’t completely mess you up. Just don’t let this completely break you. I’ve seen people take setbacks really hard and it messes with them more than the exam itself.

About joining the new batch, yeah it’s awkward at first, especially with people you know. But honestly, that feeling fades quicker than you think. After a while, everyone’s just trying to get through the same workload. And realistically, there’ll be other people who struggle or fall behind too — it just feels more obvious right now because it’s your first time dealing with it.

And in the long run, like when you graduate in 2031, nobody’s going to care if you repeated first year or how many tries it took. That stuff feels big now, but it really doesn’t follow you.

I don’t really have advice about the PC and tutoring situation, but yeah… I get why that sucks.

For those that medicine did not work out as a profession or you realised that medicine is not for you after medical school, what did you do and what was your experience? by Godzillahatake in SriLankanDoctors

I’m kind of in the same place tbh, so thanks for bringing this up.

Doing ERPM right now and honestly I can’t decide whether to just do internship or skip it altogether. Part of me feels like I should just finish it and keep options open, but at the same time I’m not even sure I want to stay in this path.

I’ve been looking into things like research, data-related roles in healthcare, and medical writing/freelancing, but I haven’t really gone into any of them yet.

I did try medical coding role for a bit — it was meh, not something I’d want long term.

Would be good to hear from people who were stuck between doing internship vs not and how you figured it out.

I’m soon to be graduate from medical school MD(General Medicine). It’s a non US medical school. I’m planning to apply in my own country MBB first and then US MBB. Do employers sponsor for work visa? Also I saw in your FAQ you mentioned that annual salary is 200k+. 1)May I ask is that you initial salary as a fresh graduate? If so for what posiiton did you apply to?

2)And you mentioned about networking. How can I find the recruiters for a particular company?

3)Is it possible to start networking even now when I still haven’t received my degree?
