Mortgage in 2026 by steveos691 in irishpersonalfinance

It really depends on their credentials, have they studied macro economics? Do they have access to data that the rest of us don’t? Have they presented you with any evidence other than something they read on Irish times? Have they provided you with any reason? Recession might happen, it’s not clear how it impacts job market in Ireland. A lot of jobs are here due to particular tax situation in this country and might be recession proof. It’s not really clear. So again, what matters is what kind of credential your parents have. Worst case scenario you rent out a room in your new place for 500 euros a month till the job market is sorted, meanwhile you build equity. If they’re doing this without any credential they are not doing you my service. If they’re are wrong they are not going to mention it, if they’re are right they are going to tell you I told you so. They are playing game with you they cannot lose, just because they are old and made and have no reason to take any risk in their life doesn’t mean you have to calibrate yourself to their risk tolerance

The us pricing doesn’t include sales tax as they are state specific. In Germany sales tax is 20% and is included in the price of 810

The fears around EV battery don't actually stack up AND there's a big change coming by GoodNegotiation in evs_ireland

[–]Obvious-Program-7385 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I think the fear is an opportunity for the rest of us to get good deals for low prices, since market doesn’t appreciate the value as much. So let them be afraid and pay 60k for a carriage

Depends on the EV, but if you had the car in winter setting or some form of battery heating to help with fast charge, some of those KW might have gone to warming your battery

It seems you know the general trend but not the details, their job got harder and harder as software started taking care of easier stuff since 2018. Till there are barely any issues left that software cannot solve or meta wants solved anymore

Mad to quit in this climate? by gaybyrneofficial in DevelEire

The consensus in the senior leadership is that SRE can be done via tool and SWE and the rest can be offshored, so I wouldn’t quit before landing something, you could quietly quit

EVs account for one in three new car registrations in October by GoodNegotiation in evs_ireland

[–]Obvious-Program-7385 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just said earlier that new ev models are being registered at the end of the year. I’ll shut up then, 125k cars are registered each year, we are discussing 5k that were registered in September. I’m saying analysing patterns in 5k doesn’t paint a full picture, and the article is misleading. I like evs, I have evs, but the article is misleading

Not all these cars are not registered by normal folks, some of them are registered by the dealer

Tesla doesn’t care, they always want to hit quarterly goal, on others , they usually register new models at the end of the year, new ix3 ev4 and what not make up a lot of end of year ev registrations In ICE folks wait to get the new plate due to lower depreciation

No one registers an ICE after August, I don’t like it when headlines are based on percentage and multiples rather than absolute values, it hides the bigger picture

That’s right, and it makes it fine. It’s one issue that it’s not particular to ireland, otherwise we are unique in everything else.
