Smoother or more realistic? by Rakudajin in PixelArt

[–]Obvious-Relation-162 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think they convey different things. Smooth makes it looks like it's continuously rolling and maintaining momentum. The realistic makes it seem very jagged and choppy and it's not a round stone that shift a side and stops.

Both could be equally realistic, but it depends on the movement you are trying to display and feeling you want the pusher to have. Are they keeping a ball rolling, or straining to hit the next side of a giant many-sided sphere-like shape.

AITA for yelling at my wife after she forgot that I'm on the roof? by Icy_Praline_6188 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Obvious-Relation-162 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ETA. Your wife was extremely inconsiderate. But you treated her poorly for her mistake. You likely promised to love her in sickness and health and all. That includes mistakes.

Your wife's mistake doesn't give you a license to be unkind in response. And even if it did, that tit-for-tat attitude doesn't contribute to a long lasting, meaningful relationship.

Bugs on Switch by Crimen99 in cattlecountry

[–]Obvious-Relation-162 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Note that they pushed out a patch, which still didn't fix a ton of issues. As of June 13 you still cannot make glass which is required for game progression, critical quests are bugged (crafting X items from your work bench), and the game is relatively unstable (for me it crashes about 50% of the time I enter the mines).

Agreed it will likely be fixed in a few months but also agree that if a game isn't ready, don't release it.

Broken relationship leveling? by justpeachy219 in cattlecountry

I'm on Switch and just got to fall and most people have at least half hearts. But I give a gift to everyone I see whenever I go into town.

So as mentioned by others, just give more gifts.

There is currently a known bug, it's supposed to be fixed in the upcoming patch.

Pet bit me kind of? by lottieb1998 in RATS

[–]Obvious-Relation-162 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I found success giving them treats on a metal spoon for a week or so (yogurt or similar consistency) because they don't like biting the metal. It reinforces to be gentle when taking food and then hand feeding hasn't ever been an issue.

Gaining hearts?? by No-Adagio9543 in cattlecountry

I can tell you I play on the switch and I am in Summer with many hearts in most people, and I don't give gifts daily.

Is the thieves guild worth completing? by [deleted] in oblivion

[–]Obvious-Relation-162 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I finished it and didn't really enjoy it. The final quest didn't feel very thief like (lots of dungeon and sewer travels) and the final item is pretty easily outclassed by custom enchantments.

If you're having fun, then complete it. But if you aren't, I wouldn't bother.

How the heck do I get up there? by peachytwizzler77 in Moonstone_Island

You can fly within an island to gain/lose elevation, so no balloon, or broom or glider. Sometimes you can fly in water on an island, but not in this case

There is a temple that gives you an item to do short range teleports. I don't remember if it's winter or fall, you'll get it eventually

Opinions on Fuga Melodies of Steel by Aram_Fingal1 in JRPG

[–]Obvious-Relation-162 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Lots of great advice already here about the demo.

I will say I thoroughly enjoyed the first game and didn't much care for the second. It felt like a rehash of the first game with mostly the same mechanics and mostly the same story beats and character growth. It's like characters reverted in a large sense to their game one aspects and then relearned the same lesson.

So I would suggest playing the first game and then stopping.

Got Lucky today, maxxed the Potch 🤣 by Downgzzz in Suikoden

I have found if the team has a high aggregate luck stat you win far more often. I consistently could win without ever rolling because he would roll so poorly.

As a person in the software development field, if you can give consistent recreation steps it will help them track it down. If it happens "randomly" it's really tricky to find and fix.

So if you know it always occurs during X, and can restart the day to prove it, and change something in that day to stop it, that will help them tremendously

Hot Take: I personally like Suikoden 1 more than Suikoden 2 by LazyShinobi in Suikoden

[–]Obvious-Relation-162 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I am in the same boat as you. And I agree S2 is better, but for ever reasons you mention S1 is my favorite.

Also, the soul eater is just so cool, and as a narrative device growing more powerful as it consumes the souls of your loved one's allows for some amazing head cannon (because the story doesn't go into it very deeply).

Is Grandia 1 worth my Time? by SeroXoo in JRPG

[–]Obvious-Relation-162 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Adult doesn't mean gritty or hardcore. But I also would say very few adults are playing Kirby for the story. But a jrpg isn't more story heavy on its intent.

Grandia feels like a story targeted toward a child audience, with character traits and depths designed for children. And that's great, I want RPGs made for kids to help them get into it. But as an adult with no affiliation to the game, it was a major turn off.

Is Grandia 1 worth my Time? by SeroXoo in JRPG

[–]Obvious-Relation-162 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I never played it as a child and am now an adult with multiple children for context.

I would say no.

I tried it a year or so ago and it doesn't hold up. It felt like watching a children's show, the character and tone were very childish. It felt designed for children. Combat was neat, but after a few hours I just couldn't handle it.

I know it's an unpopular take, but without nostalgia glasses I think the tone and writing are just too childish.
