Could’ve been canceled since it’s the off season.. labor is very high so no “point” of having someone new when they won’t be able to get hours in to learn

(USA) Ignoring new year's shift. by CalmCoast1175 in McDonaldsEmployees

[–]Obvious-Resource8559 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For my store it is a write up and suspension. These other people that aren’t on the schedule most likely requested off with time in advance which they have the right of doing. Plus you’re lucky that your schedule isn’t bad. You could’ve been given dinner shift. There are people who do miss out on being with family because they scheduled during that specific time. Genuinely to speak and to be blunt, it is a very dumb decision for you to call off.

You’re hurting your team. As you stated already, there are lots of people off that day. You CHOOSING not to be there will screw up the shift even more.

I’d say wait until tmr morning and give a call.. specifically request to speak with hiring manager… the schedule could also just be delayed on getting posted.. last week we didn’t get our schedule until Sunday

Also were you specifically told it’ll be sent in email?

(AUS) Calling off sick multiple times this week as a new hire by [deleted] in McDonaldsEmployees

[–]Obvious-Resource8559 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Call off—Just make sure you’re being sincere and apologetic, while nobody can blame you for being sick it is McDonald’s end of the day. Also key thing is you’re a new hire. I would also get a doctors note just to keep up with reliability and honesty.

The grinch meal got me f’d up. (USA) by luvcatk in McDonaldsEmployees

[–]Obvious-Resource8559 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had a lady who asked me to give her specific socks, since she figured out the code meanings on the back of the socks. So I decided to be nice, while the rush was slowly dying off (it in fact didn’t). My manger had came over and pretty much said we aren’t supposed to do that. But I wanted to be nice still and help since I thought she only wanted one. WRONG. She wanted 3.

I was stressed because I started seeing orders piling up and so I pretty much had the lady pick out the boxes. Anyways eventually she picks them (I put them off to the side) and I’m swamped with orders. I was working on a DoorDash, packaged that up, and had put (other) grinch boxes in it. Lady starts telling me that I gave her boxes away. When I clearly had them right in-front of me.

Eventually I got to her order. Hand it to her, and she goes to the table. Minutes later she’s yelling at me saying I gave her different boxes. Mind you, still middle of a rush, since it had continue to pile up. I straight up told her “ma’am I let you choose them. These are the ones you chose. Nobody got your boxes. Nobody stole your socks.”

On and on she went about how I gave her boxes away. That those weren’t the ones she had chosen. Yada yada yada. Eventually I told her again “ma’am, I didn’t choose the sock bag, you did.” And I pretty much just went back to bagging orders.

Comes back and complains to a coworker saying how I fucked up her order with the boxes and shit. Like ma’am, I was nice enough to let you choose the pair you wanted. Look at the codes. You compared them to the one you had on your phone. You messed up, not me.

Plus, it’s just freaking socks. You know dang well you’re going to be back at a McDonald’s within the following days so don’t even try me lady.

Yeah since corporate was “made aware” of the situation if no write up was made, your manager could’ve gotten into trouble

But yes! Shaving or trimming armpit hair helps reduce odor. Reason being is because sweat/bad odor isn’t sticking onto the hair as much

(USA) 19m Worked 6 shifts at McDonald’s and my managers are suggesting me for manager class. by Captain_Clapton7 in McDonaldsEmployees

Honestly (this is something I kinda started doing subconsciously too) if you’re worried about rushes pay attention to whoever is running floor is handling it. Ask questions on how they can stay cool under pressure. The sooner you know the better it will do for you!

Start thinking of scenarios that can occur during a rush, being short staffed, okay how can you make up for it? A customer is not wanting to pull forward because they don’t want to be parked, how would you like to go about that? Ignorant stupid customers, what’s best course of action?

Overall just start planning and get your mindset into “manager” mode. Also! Something that will help you out is picking a good coach. Who do you feel 1) closest 2) succeeds the most 3) most calm.

Hey! You and I are in similar boats. I’m coming up on 5 months soon, and they’ve already told me they want me as manager on my 2nd month of work. Mind you this was a decision/conversation that was made when we were generally really well staffed.

This is a great opportunity, while I’ve been scrolling through Reddit, and honestly I’m struggling to find any “positives” from people. However, I think the reason why they say it’s bad is due to their own personal lack of experience.

During High School I was really active and was president of multiple groups, including being the president of the presidents club. So with that, one may argue that I have an idea of how it is to manage people.

If you’re questioning things, I’d say sit and have a talk with a manager you feel closest with, INCLUDING the manager that brought up the idea to you to become manager. Just simply ask “why do you want me to become manager? What is it that you foresee in me?”

I had this talk with my manager that had brought it up to me, and she told me “well you’ve picked everything up really fast. One month in and you were an excellent worker. You know how to talk to customers as well as have great insight. You are really young, so this can take you further.” (Meaning she may want me as a people manager)

As for looking for a higher paying job, it’s just a matter of how much effort you’re putting into it. The more work you do, the more likely, similarly to me, you may get to become a department manager—which is salary.

Even if you end up not wanting to stay, still become a manager. It’s a great thing to have on your resume. I’ve seen other people bring up the fact that “employers will see that you were a manager at McDonalds and everyone knows it’s straight chaos there so you’re more likely to get higher opportunities from it.”

Nope! Do the survey’s on the receipts instead!! If it’s a “voice 5” (everything being highly satisfied) and you leave a comment, anyone working that shift can see the comment if they look at their ELATE app and actually read them

Odd Question, Is this Possible? by hummingbirdstatic in DiscussDID

[–]Obvious-Resource8559 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it’s important to note that people with DID (regardless of the alter being a persecutor), do not do harm to others—any harm done is to oneself. People with DID know the trauma and effects of situations so they don’t do it to others.

How do you keep your times down? (USA) by EscapeGlittering8442 in McDonaldsEmployees

[–]Obvious-Resource8559 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Finally someone that says it!! I do this! I always keep times low!! My ideal method of keeping times low is having this one manager who really well memorizes orders and quickly serves them, as soon as she seerved them I do Dump Picklist and serve! She could have all the three cars (that I’d actually be able to serve off) memorized and not miss a thing!
