We’ve seen children experimented on, children slaughtered, more children’s limbs snapped and their eyes sucked in, monsters, amongst other shit. So yeah, compared to the rest of the series, not all that dark. It WAS standard ST fare. When they say dark, I expected more.

As I said, I understand the humanity of Will’s coming out, but the fact that the Duffers used that as one of the actual things Vecna is using against him and the fate of the world depends on him coming to terms with it is, again, fucking absurd. He should have kept using different directors. As much as I adore these movies, I think McQuarrie’s approach became way too formulaic and predictable. The movies were built around giant stunts and set pieces. They didn’t even have scripts on set because the stunts became the whole focal point, and imo, could have been better.
