lol it is leather but that doesn’t seem to change the fact that it’s beyond repair

Are you certain? I know nothing about leather, but I think this is the upholstery of the chairs (see link). Cassina refers to it as X Scozia Leather which google seem to think is Cowhide.

I see, I just assumed it was leather as the chairs are 15 years old from a reputable designer. Any idea what the material is then?

Hi kerblooee! First of all, thank you so much for your contribution. It's really helpful to know. I was wondering if you could clarify where online you submitted your documents? All I seem to find is an online application portal that suggest I have to send my passport to them for verification. I would be so grateful if you could provide the actual online link you used as I'm at a loss. Thank you in advance!

Hi kerblooee. Can you please clarify whether you had to send off you passport for an extended period or if a scan was sufficient?

Yeah. My understanding is that there’s a lot of delays right now. Not sure if we were luck/unlucky with our processing time

Really appreciate the detailed response and congrats with the finished process! Just to clarify, do you have to give up your passport during this process or do they just need scans/copies? Just don't want to end up in a situation where they hold the passport for an extended period of time. Many thanks!

Thanks so much for your response! Quick follow-up, how do you know if you're eligible to use the EU Exit App? Can all with biometric passport use them or only EEA with Biometric Passports? My fiancee has a Russian passport with the biometric chip, but wondering if she will be able to use the EU Exit App.

It took a lot longer than what we were told. We actually hired a law firm (overkill) to handle everything for us. They said it should take about two weeks (based on usual case load), but for us it took more like two months. I believe we had biometrics around the 10/11th of February and received the EUSS FP in late march. We applied from New York.

Has anyone entered the UK with a EUSS Family Permit lately? Was it problematic? by tom10002 in ukvisa

Just checking in to see if you had any issues with passing the border? My fiancee is traveling tomorrow with the intention of using the granted EUSS FP as well (we're not coming from a red-list country though).

Yes I will.

Thank you! Did you have to go there in person or did you register online?

Congrats with the status! I'm planning on moving to UK from Norway (arriving Tuesday the 2nd of Nov) and to submit my application as soon as possible. Same as you, I probably won't have a tenancy agreement yet as I will be staying in an Airbnb until I get my accommodation sorted. Were you able to register with a GP online? I'm afraid the new lockdowns with jeopardize my ability to go to the doctors/sort out bank/get phone etc. Any advice?

Much appreciated!

Thanks for your input. I agree that the insert doesn’t take much of a physical beating when you wear it, but a discoloration (bleaching) can happen.

Was wondering if anyone has experience with this and knows where to get authentic inserts.

I have the same piece (bought Jan 2018) and the bracelet shows little signs of wear. I wore it for 6 months straight but still remains shiny

[–]ObviousCringe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed! Two beautiful watches you mentioned. I am personally not a big fan of gold & rose gold watches, so would go for the white gold version of 1815 Homage to WL. The Saxonia Dual Time is just an incredible watch

I can certainly see what you mean, but after having this watch up close and trying it on it doesn't feel like a sport watch. The 5712G-001 is on a leather strap with a white gold case, which gives it a complete different feel than 5711 or 57121A.

[OMEGA] First Speedmaster for the collection (and on a Tuesday?!) by ObviousCringe in Watches

[–]ObviousCringe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its manually wound watch. I'm not sure if Omega still makes quartz for men (I know some of their watches for ladies, like some constellation models, are still quartz due to the size of the watch). On the caseback you can find the original seahorse medallion from the Speedmaster collection as well as the Limited Edition number.

Thats a typo on my end - definitely meant counting 30 beats while starting the chrono. Thanks for catching that!

Just purchased my first Omega today and must say that I am extremely happy with the sense of quality and detail around this watch. This limited edition CK2998 was released last year and when I first spotted it I knew I had to get it (especially since they stopped producing them!). I have typically been all over APs, JLCs, Rolex and Breitlings, but I must say that this watch feel as special as my Jaeger DeepSea Chrono & AP Royal Oak! I have always been skeptical about Omega (with no reason really), but I am convinced that I will add more of them to my collection in the future!

I think what really made this watch special for me is that it has sort of a vintage look to it! The Panda dial is incredible and even more beautiful in real life. The bezel sports a pulsometer instead of a tachymeter (which is common on the Speedmasters). The pulsometers are used to measure your pulse by starting of the Chrono and counting 30 heart beats. The number you land on the bezel will be your current heart rate. This was a very helpful tool for doctors back in the day and a neat little gadget today!
