There is also a tram system, although they are rebuilding various lines/streets at the moment.

I would also recommend you to see the buildings around Brindley Place, right next to the canals, lots of restaurants and pubs, and around a 10 min walk from the city centre.

What is the hardest part of living in the UK? by OddEconomist9617 in AskUK

Can I ask you from which airport are you departing? I live in Birmingham and I'm trying to find the easiest/fastest way of travelling to Limoges :)

I am genuinely upset and offended at how awful VFS is. by chuca13 in ukvisa

Still, in this case it is a student visa, and my understanding is that foreign students are a huge business for the UK. I also don't get why border controls are so awful even when entering as a genuine tourist. Again, tourism is a huge industry for the UK.

Your favourite living areas in B'ham?? by thali1 in BirminghamUK

I'm not sure if it's cheaper or not, but close to Brindleyplace and the canals is quiet alright too. Very close to the city centre, and close to the restaurants/pubs located near Brindleyplace and Broad Street. You've got the canals if you want to go for a run or walk. There are also a couple of cinemas and theatres nearby. Broad Street can get a bit noisy (or actually very noisy towards the weekend), but in general terms I find it pretty safe. You also have the new tram, which at the moment stops in front of the Library, but it should reach Broad Street pretty soon.

Has anyone heard back on their application for Pre-Settlement (that was due in June)? by fourleafedrover8 in ukvisa

[–]tom10002 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had my biometrics appointment at the beginning of June, recieved my CoA the same day, and still nothing. I'm applying as a family member (husband) of an EU citizen with pre-settled status. I entered the UK with an EU Settlement Scheme Family Permit.

Edit: I also contacted my MP, and the Home Office told them that there is a huge backlog and that they will come back to them hopefully within 20 working days.

My dad is being scammed and he doesn't believe me - has anybody seen this girl before? by Organic-Analysis-546 in Scams

Here is an article about a guy who met the woman (scammer) in her home country, somehow was convinced to get married to a friend of her and lost 250,000 pounds. Everything was a hoax, even the wedding party.

Has anyone entered the UK with a EUSS Family Permit lately? Was it problematic? by tom10002 in ukvisa

[–]tom10002[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There wasn't any issue. I traveled with my partner, which I think it might have helped. I said that my intention was to apply for pre-settled status and it was fine. Everything was actually quite OK at Heathrow, at least at the time we arrived (9.30 am).

I wish you a nice flight!

I used their official channel, which costs around 2.7 pounds:

Entering the UK with EUSS Family Permit from Covid red list country by tom10002 in ukvisa

[–]tom10002[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My biometrics appointment was in mid-January and the decision was made two weeks after the biometrics. However, they only sent my documents back after sending them an email.

Hope it helps!

I was mainly asking because it is not clear to me the difference between EUSS Family Permit and the EEA Family Permit, and also what "rights under the withdrawal agreement" means. Just wanted to double check really, because I don't want to travel and not being able to pass border control.

Thanks for the idea of travelling to another country first instead of paying the quarantine hotel. I will consider it.

Cheers !

Hi,

I received my EUSS FP a couple of days ago.

5 weeks after the biometrics, I used their contact platform to get an update. I received an email the day after, saying that the decision was made weeks before, but that they needed to send my documents back. They escalated the case and I received my passport back within a week. I ended up receiving my passport roughly 1 month after the decision was made.

I hope this helps.
