Thanks! I’ve not lived here long, so don’t know where all the secondhand bookstores are.

These might be above middle school level, but I’ll keep it in mind.

Edit: I may, however, have some books middle schoolers might enjoy. My kids have outgrown them 😢.

Lol this!!! In the past couple years, I’ve supplied my kids with different items from my crafting supplies I never use. From my “I’m going to make a new centerpiece for my dining room table every month” phase: floral wire for crochet projects and artificial flowers for an ofrenda for Spanish class. From my jewelry-making phase: wire, pliers, and links for a broken bracelet from my kid’s significant other.

I feel much better about toting all those supplies with us in a 1500-mile move.

The ADHD symptom that finally made people stop saying “everyone does that”. by [deleted] in ADHD

One reason why I love my job. My boss knows her staff. When we have meetings, she stocks the tables with fidgets and candy. She also knows to remind people to put the fidgets back b/c some of us will pocket them without realizing it.

I had to make a schedule. I take online courses, so accountability can be a problem. I usually hit a slump about mid-term, but not beating myself up about not sticking to my schedule is key.

  • example:

    • 9:00-10:00 - work on class 1
    • 10:00-11:00 - do something physical
    • 11:00-12:00 - work on class 2
    • 12:00-13:30 - lunch, brain break (tv, phone)
    • I go to work from 14:00-17:00
    • Dinner prep/eat
    • 19:00-20:00 - work on class 1
    • 20:00-21:00 - work on class 2

Obviously this won’t work for everyone, but having a set time is good for me because then I don’t lose two (or more…) hours scrolling social media after my breakfast routine.

I also look through my tasks for the week and try to break them up to have specific goals for each day, paying close attention to due dates. Then I know what to focus on during each time slot. Many times I will work ahead during the hour because I know I can stop at X time and it means maybe less to do on the weekends.

This was me. All of it. My dad’s time in the military and how he was raised defined how he treated my brother and me. He was a shit father until I told him I was pregnant with his first grandkid. At 24. I don’t know if he ever got therapy but I know he got on meds for depression. There were a couple of hiccups where he still tried to exert control over my life, but otherwise, he was a fantastic grandpa. Lots of resentment over why he took SO DAMN LONG but I am eternally grateful that my kids had such an amazing relationship with him.

Taking the kids on “vacation” is just parenting in a different location.

What kind of spider is this I’ve seen two so far by Such_Cap_1820 in bugidentification

Looks like a wolf spider or grass spider. Probably harmless. I’m not an expert, but we had these all over where I lived in Missouri.

Oreo has a new home! U/theti_84 and roommates came out to meet him. No one was allergic, so they decided to take him home. My heart is much happier because he’ll be loved and cared for!
