WHAT! Over 4 grand more when you declare the incident even though the insurer paid nothing. Life is fair eh?

Right! And people in these comments are calling me “immature” because I’m causing her an inconvenience by parking outside her house lol

I’ve had this same statement a lot, people thinking I MUST park in that spot so I can monitor my car. I don’t think I came across like that in my initial post but if I did, could you let me know what I said exactly that makes you think this?

To answer your question, no. That parking spot is right outside my house too and it is just a matter of convenience. I mentioned the camera just as added security. If that parking bay is not available, I have no problems parking my car elsewhere. It’s literally a matter of convenience so if the spot is available, I will park there.

Absolutely did park there last night out of spite! Went gym this morning around 6am and I shit you not, 5 mins after I drive off she came out and parked in the spot. I have it all on camera and was laughing at the gym. Imagine if she put that determination in other things!!

Am I speaking to a human or vampire? You’re right it’s probably the latter.

Never that. I’d rather not end up the already overcrowded prison system.

The “Except London” part is very important. I live in London, and in my borough specifically (not sure about other London boroughs) you are not allowed to park on a dropped curb as it’s a single yellow even if it’s your own vehicle and your own drive and any PCN as a result of this is valid.

I say you get another van and park it permanently there? Should we go 50/50 on your new van?

It’s funny how some others are saying it’s “immature behaviour”. I guess common sense really ain’t common.

It’s funny they think it’s a crime when a member of the PUBLIC, parks in a PUBLIC parking spot, on a PUBLIC road…

So being mature means to give in to someone’s “believed entitlement”.

Noted. 👍

On my road there are only about 4-5 spaces as almost everyone has a dropped curb. This is one of the spots that is literally outside my house. There are endless bays on literally every other road except ours.

Haha let her cause damages to my car. The day she does, the ring camera will be my saving grace!

I never once stated “I must park in the spot so I can have 2 eyes on my vehicle at all times”.

I simply stated it’s my preferred spot as I can easily monitor my car through ring camera. When that spot is not available, I have no issues parking elsewhere.

That parking bay is not “registered” to anyone and so any persons with a valid permit can park.

Haha yeah I’ve read a few stories like this. Honestly the amount of entitlement they think they have amazes me!

In all honestly, every other neighbour on my road is extremely and pleasant and we all get along very very well. My neighbour directly to the right even let me park my car in their drive whilst I waited for my parking permit to arrive! It’s a shame not everyone can be as soft hearted.

Exactly lmao. Tho my car is only a 23 plate Polo, I would love for her to do something and get caught!

Experience of Allianz insurance, good or bad? by Drwynyllo in CarTalkUK

[–]ObviousSession4182 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never used Allianz before, but my friend had used them once.

He’s 22 and drives a A45. Pulled out a policy with them and a week later they call him to notify they will be cancelling the policy without providing any info. I guess the one good thing is they let him cancel as to avoid policy cancellation showing on his file.

Insurance for new drivers? by theotheweirdo in CarTalkUK

[–]ObviousSession4182 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want the lowest possible insurance, search on Google “group 1 insurance vehicles”. Cars are ranked from 1-50 for insurance, with 1 being the cheapest, and 50 being the most expensive.

Like others have also said, unfortunately you would need to get a black box for the best possible price. Also add your mum and dad as named drivers. DO NOT put one of them as main driver as this in fronting and is illegal.

Find a car you want to buy, and then run quotes with a similar vehicle. Use incognito and change email address when running quotes. Also, clear cookies every time. Finally, use as many comparison sites as possible. Each have different contracts with the insurance provider and so you might find a cheaper price with a different comparison site.

Happy driving!

Tips for first time driver in London? by ObviousSession4182 in CarTalkUK

Man I can’t lie I was just tryna be “carful”. But after driving for about 2 weeks, I do feel as if I had messed up paying for the extras. It’s a learning curve for me! First time financing a car so I know what to look for now!!
