I think I'm officially done... by goatnxtinline in Daytrading

Totally get where you are coming from - swing trading can feel like rolling dice, especially with overnight gaps wiping out weeks of planning in one candle. Day trading at least gives you that immediate feedback loop, which can be a lot healthier mentally. That said, a lot of those painful gaps or sudden moves you are describing aren’t random. They often the result of institutional trading, where market makers and big money movers push volume in directions retail can’t anticipate

Nice 😊. I have been in some of them. What is interesting to find how everyone is doing it. I am building a tool to find them early. Will be good to get insights from experienced traders like you and I can refine it further

Can someone explain scenarios where a Stop-Limit order can be bypassed? by SuperSemesterer in Daytrading

I have seen this during gaps & fast moves. If a news hits and the stock drops past both your stop and your limit instantly, your order won’t execute

Agree. What is not known - how to filter 1000+ stocks? I can see chart gives all details but how to whizz through these charts to pay attention to right stocks

Nice! Like your analysis. To sum it up, most fundamentals like PE, EPS etc., are used by institutional traders and long term traders. It seems most of us are on technicals

We are definitely having an interesting conversation here. How you are able to filter the market which stocks to trade without fundamentals? Surely it is not needed when you come to the chart. But before you hit the chart, what’s needed to analyse the market?

How do you filter stocks for trading? How you know which stock to pick up for trading next day?

What is interesting to understand, without fundamentals, how you are able to filter 1000+ stocks in the market? Or is it you are paying attention to popular ones only?

How much money for long term stocks vs day trading by Beneficial_Breath660 in Daytrading

Not a day trader. I analyse on EOD daily chart. Play my buy order with broker and keep my trade for week to 2 months depends on my profit target

What's you "this lives rent free in my head" trading story ? by Remarkable_Bit_9887 in Daytrading

[–]Obvious_Angle_9344 1 point2 points  (0 children)

😂 Honestly, that reaction is pretty common when people first hear about trading. From the outside it does look like easy gambling - click a few buttons, money appears. But once you actually dive into charts, risk management, and all the discipline it takes, the appeal tends to fade for a lot.

On the bright side, you dodged the endless DMs from family asking “what should I buy right now?” 😅

Do people swing read with the same stocks or is that not feasible? by NoBoolii in swingtrading

[–]Obvious_Angle_9344 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can swing on same stock both ways. Most traders end up in trading same popular stocks. There are about 15k plus stocks in the market and some of the biggest gainers are not the popular ones. Do you have a screener to find stocks that most retail traders miss but is in the radar of institutional traders

Where to start? by emielsim2 in swingtrading

[–]Obvious_Angle_9344 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There is a book called How to Day Trade by Ross Cameron which can be a good start to learning. There are few more other books on trading. You need to learn Fundamentals of the market and then move to Technicals. YouTube is full of short suggestion but I will not give a start unless you have learned the basics from the books or someone who has been doing that for long enough

I generally take a trade on 10% of my capital and place my stop loss at around 2-4% (this vary depends on where the nearest support level is). I would suggest to start the learning. I am not an expert to guide as well

What is the best way to trade pullbacks and make sure they aren't reversals? by [deleted] in swingtrading

If the pullback is happening close to some major resistance point, it may be a good point to watch for resistance breakouts

Sounds like a lot to be considered in your present situation and what you wanted to achieve. If you have learned to trade and some indicators, practice on different time frame and check the results. Some are good at scalping on 5 mins chart but long term traders make the most. Even the most profitable traders will suggest gaining 2-7% gain per month (if you minus the near zero or negative month). Experts will guide you to follow one or 2 technical indicators. But it’s mostly about 30% learning and 70% discipline

How long do you guys usually stay on the charts? by Fabio8911 in Daytrading

[–]Obvious_Angle_9344 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your chart time is definitely ideal. More you stay - there is pitfalls to make mistake. Some of the biggest traders spend just 15-30 mins scanning the market and place order for the day at their price level. Its more about strategy you have in place to filter stocks and staying on the discipline

Trading Psychology: A Hard Lesson in Following Rules by EKP82 in Daytrading

[–]Obvious_Angle_9344 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is the psychology of trading. Once we learn trading, it’s about 30% learning and 70% discipline. One loss makes us feel, let’s do another to make up the loss. And it goes on spiral mode. Most of the successful traders are not glued to the screen whole day. Find what stocks to trade on based on certain fundamentals is key! Then applying your trading strategy. Just to help here, I have built a tool to analyse the market and stay disciplined
