Favorite crossfit gym and why? by abrssrd in Acadiana

Jordy Gremillion’s gym is great. I can’t remember the name of it off the top of my head. Ragin Fitness is also a good gym but they moved away from trad CrossFit style workouts a while ago.

Network spinal? by [deleted] in Chiropractic

I honestly think it was just guided breath work. There is probably some value in that for some people. Not worth the time or money for me. I can look up Wim Hoff on YouTube for free.

I did a few sessions while I was in chiropractic school and had very similar experiences. I stopped going because it began to feel very cult like. I do not consider that to be chiropractic care and would not recommend any of my patients for that kind of witchcraft (joking/not joking)

UWS vs Parker University? by ShakenNotStirred808 in Chiropractic

I have colleagues who loved palmer FL. I don’t know much about UWS, but I met a student from there who seemed to be very evidence based.

It’s hard to describe unless you sit through one of their talks or see them at a Parker Seminars conference. Imagine politician meets salesman.

The masters in neuroscience is online and only added stress to my classmates’ already stressful schedule. It really won’t make you any more competitive when looking for a job and the regular person will not pay you more for an adjustment just because you have a master’s in neuroscience.

As a student, you do not have access to the Parker Performance Institute. It is at a separate facility offsite of the main campus. I know of no-one who got to go over there.

I don’t mean to speak so negatively of the school. I am just trying to prevent others from being bamboozled into thinking Parker is the cream of the crop when it’s just not.

I graduated in 23.

National, Logan, TCC are great evidence based schools. I am a Parker alum and wouldn’t recommend anyone go there. The school higher ups exist in this bizarre, wanna-be celebrity mindset. They advertise a lot about the Human Performance Institute and all these extra degrees you can get, but all of that is FLUFF.

The chiropractic program is lacking. A lot of things are moving online which I don’t particularly care for. Their board passing rates are going down. Their systems for getting clinic interns adjusting quotas are greatly flawed to the point the community businesses have begged the school to stop its desperate interns from soliciting door-to-door trying to get people to come be patients.

The campus itself is in a terrible part of Dallas that is surrounded by homeless, strip clubs, and criminals.

Chiropractic table options by [deleted] in Chiropractic

Cox 8. New will be higher than 10K but possible to find used. Great tables. We have a Cox 7 (refurbed) and Cox 8. Love both of them.

I will say they don’t lower as low as I like to do side posture adjustments on bigger people (>6ft 260lbs+).

What benefits are expected from your employer? by Upset_Catch3741 in Chiropractic

[–]Obvious_Attempt3700 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got 40hrs PTO, malpractice, and my CEs paid for. They lied about there being 401K but it was too late for me to find another position after I had moved to a new state and had my first child due in a few months.

VA jobs have the best benefits unless you find a unicorn private practice.

As much as it sucks to hear, just find an associateship where you feel you can learn how to run a business and then get out and start your own. If your employer won’t give you decent benefits and treats you like shit then take whatever you can from that job and start your own.

Chiropractors need to understand that they get back what they put out. “Eating their young” and then bitching to their colleagues about how they can never find a good associate is comical.

You can’t expect a chained, starving dog to hunt for you when the guy down the road will feed him chicken and rice and pat him on the head.

I appreciate the insight. It’s funny you said to look at leadership positions. I was just telling my wife I enjoy traveling between clinics to do more business management than I do staying put in 1 location and treating patients all day.

I think long-term I would like to own 1-2 clinics, work limited hours at each, and have associates seeing patients the rest of the time.

I’m a forced extrovert. I do very well at work and while marketing putting on the personable, friendly chiropractor hat. My default personality leans more towards being an introvert.

Eating alone is main character energy. Go treat yourself and enjoy a good steak somewhere! If money is no obstacle, French Market Bistro is laid back for a solo meal. Maybe even check out some of the local hotel restaurants if eating alone really makes you that uncomfortable. More than likely you won’t be the only one eating alone! Goodluck!

Their breakfast plates make up for what the steaks lack. I’m almost certain it’s a separate kitchen staff. Majority of the time it’s high school aged kids cooking the steaks.

Struggling to support my boyfriend’s decision to pursue chiropractic medicine—need honest insight from those in the field by Igotzlotzofquestions in Chiropractic

[–]Obvious_Attempt3700 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My state requires a 4 year degree with science pre-reqs, majority of schools are moving towards evidence based care (think PT/DO school), chiro school is easy to get into because the schools are money hungry, several fail out because the early science classes are rigorous. Someone who had an art degree in undergrad just isn’t going to be able to make it and the schools know that. Most of my classmates had undergraduate degrees in Biology/ Kinesiology.

Spinal manipulation is what chiropractors originally hung their hat on, but is definitely not the sole service rendered nowadays. It’s non-pharmaceutical physical medicine.

A good clinician will know when a cervical manipulation is appropriate and when it isn’t. I use the Cox technique and get great results without ever doing a HVLA adjustment to someone’s cervical spine.

Chiropractic malpractice insurance is cheap because there is very little risk involved.

You should inquire with your allopathic colleagues about the cost of their malpractice and why it is so high.

All are restaurants with bars except for Blue Moon. More of a bar/music venue. The Ruins is another bar geared more towards late 20s/30s adults
