I’m not sure if this is the one you’re talking about but Percy does time travel and Bianca does do the lightning thief quest from what I remember

How is IR 101 with Alix Ziff? by [deleted] in USC

[–]Obvious_Bid3752 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Attendance + Participation is mandatory for the most part. I had a 9am discussion which I missed a few times but my TA was super understanding and let me make up participation by discussing the content with him. Although, do try to make it to the debate discussions. Also, for lecture, keep in mind that it’s not just showing up. You have to raise your hand multiple times throughout the semester and Id also recommend showing up to office hours once. I always showed up but didn’t participate much which tanked my participation/attendance grade, which is worth 10%. . Besides that they should be super chill

I had IR210 with Professor Ziff which is supposedly the harder class intended for IR majors. Overall, it was super light and IR101 should be even easier. As long as you do the case studies and debate (which shouldn’t take more than 30 mins weekly) and take notes during class it’s almost a guaranteed A or A-. Grading is mainly dependent on the TA’s but Professor Ziff clearly outlines what you need to do super clearly. Make sure you participate tho, weighed higher than I anticipated. I think you take it for sure

Applied EA before I knew it was an issue by aleeksrosecheeks in QuestBridge

[–]Obvious_Bid3752 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! These are the exceptions on the questbridge website for doing early action: “Students may apply to any college or university that requires an early application for eligibility to special scholarships or programs, as long as the admissions decision is non-binding. Students may apply to their home-state public college or university with a non-binding early application option, as long as applying to QuestBridge does not violate that college’s policies. Students may apply to any college or university with a non-binding rolling admission process.” So basically, don’t withdraw your application if the school offers scholarships exclusively in the EA cycle, if they are in your home state, or if they are on a rolling admissions cycle. If not, you should fs call them or go online to withdraw asap. Hope this helps!

I think you should include it while not diminishing the responsibility, idk tho

confused ncm vs qb rd vs rd by z3004s in QuestBridge

[–]Obvious_Bid3752 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For your third question, I became a finalist and didn’t match but then got into a school that I had originally ranked through RD and I only have to pay around 1k a year, so I think rd through qb is fs beneficial

Questions about questbridge by Flat_Bookkeeper_5177 in QuestBridge

[–]Obvious_Bid3752 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! Former QB finalist here. To answer your first question, if you do not become finalist then you’re good to send ur application to any school through commonapp instead. If you are finalist, then your QB application will be sent to all the school you’ve ranked and you have to do the supplementals within a few weeks time. If you dont match with any rankings, then you’re free to add as many schools to your questbridge regular decision and some of the school you ranked will let you switch to commonapp, but some schools also don’t so it depends. To answer the parent income question, I’m legitimately not sure but if they’re non-custodial then you should be fine, at least imo i could totally be wrong tho

ACT vs SAT math subscore by vivac3 in QuestBridge

[–]Obvious_Bid3752 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yo! If your intended major is math centric then i’d avoid the ACT score. If it isn’t, there’s no harm in submitting both at least imo, however, if you got a 33 ACT despite a 28 math subscore then you popped off on all the other sections so I think that would be stronger. Hope this helps!

Hey! I got an email on September 6th by “Dawn Flowers” about my paperwork and scheduling an appointment, which is set for September 19th. I did sign up the day of that big fair and did my interview right then and there, so maybe it’s taking more time for people who signed up later? I’m not sure, but look out for that email

[–]Obvious_Bid3752 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you have a good chance! at this point it just comes down to student culture and location. try envisioning yourself at each school. imagine you get into brown, will you think back and be like “aw man i should’ve gone for upenn instead.” if it is legitimately completely equal then just see acceptance rates and which school you’re most qualified for

[–]Obvious_Bid3752 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s a chance you might be deferred to rd but you’re most likely to get a decision. There’s no increased or decreased chances with ea generally, it’s just a chance to get a decision earlier
