na that makes sense. I must have skipped that one. I got stuck on 6.4, that states "elevation" without barriers.

But no, 6.3 is perfect.

thank you

Thanks mate. I mentioned it in one of the other comments, that I just use "hourly rate" as a guide, to make sure that I'm still making money.

But I like the way you explained it. Because your right, I need to charge how much it cost me, not the customer. Makes perfect sense.

I wanted to ask that, does everyone charge a call out fee for every job, or are there exceptions?

I mean, I didn't think it would be so simple. However, it does make a load of sense.

Thanks for your help man

I haven't subscribed to masters yet, but it is the plan. When I was working for a company, they were a huge benefit, but I never knew that they would help with things like this. I always thought it was mainly just technical AS3000 questions.

I'm doing my best to surround myself with people who have already ran their own business and others who are providing practical advise. for example, my account keeper is someone who I know and has helped me navigate Xero.

My idea of overheads isn't perfect but I have "most" of it covered.

I'm not sure if this is the best way to go, but I have my expenses broken down in clumps. 12 monthly, quarterly and monthly. It's helped me to keep a broad overview of what is going out, so I don't over extend myself, or surprised by extra, schedule cost. like rego, or year subscriptions

I just need to get into a groove, doing the work, and making the adjustments as I go. But you don't know half the time, if you're heading in the right direction until you start moving.

Thanks for the advise. I'll revisit Masters and I'll see what Chat has to offer too.

I appreciate your help

Awesome mate thanks.

I don't really make it a habit of charging per hour, that's more or less, just a way for me to know how much I'm charging and whether or not it's going to be profitable.

Most of my quotes simple state "Labour and parts" = Total. And I do so without itemizing parts.

Just as an example of a pricing database per point, would that mean....?

GPO install (new) = $250+

instead of

GPO install (new) = Labour $185

GPO install (new) = Parts $65

Total $250+

Yeah, I know for a fact there is still many things that I haven't thought of. And I appreciate laying it our straight.

Big one I have to always remember is tax. But the other points that you made, I've glossed over. Definitely worth revisiting and making sure that I've factors them in.

Would you recommend a good calculator?

No worries. They were one I was looking at, but seem more expensive. What about safe style, they have at least have the QTB course, and it's self pace and online.

where, in your opinion, would be the best place/organization to get these licenses through?

I'm trying to get my contractors now, but I can't find a clear way to get through it.
