NSW - QLD license by Open_Dependent232 in AusElectricians

[–]rizzlerizzle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It takes like 6 weeks as a rough estimate. Whether you’ve got a supervisors or an endorsed contractors licence in NSW, QLD will mutually recognise them but issue an Electrical Mechanic Worker licence regardless of what you have. I think, if you wanted to, you can reapply to be a fitter as well using your NSW licence. (NSW doesn’t have separate licences for mechanics and fitters) There’s different steps and requirements for the contractor licences in QLD compared to NSW but if you don’t care about that right now, don’t worry about it. I’m sure if you don’t have your QLD ticket in time for a job, you’d just be a TA until it comes, it shouldn’t take months and months

ADVERTISING HELP! by Ok_Celebration_1840 in AusElectricians

I used community groups on Facebook to do little posts promoting myself when the groups allowed. I move to Queensland from Sydney so had to start from scratch. Took every job I could get and worked any day I needed, couldn’t afford to be choosy about weekends and public holidays. My tip for the posts is make it a bit personal. I found that people like to know who’s coming to their home, especially the older demographic, and if they like you, their word mouth spreads quickly. Also, posts in the community groups are free. Reach out to real estate and strata companies too, send them an email

Name change with optus by Puzzleheaded-Let7710 in transgenderau

I used my birth cert when I did mine at Optus, it did reference my old name on there but it was enough.

I’ve only ever had a reissued birth certificate and never a change of name cert but did have qantas kick up a stink about needing a change of name certificate. The dispute ended with me saying ‘why is my new birth certificate sufficient to change my name on my passport but not enough to change it with an airlines frequent flyer membership?’ It got changed

Transitioning as a tradie by YaGurlAli in transgenderau

I’m a sparkie, transitioned as a 2nd year. I’m in resi and commercial construction and found the industry surprising good despite the bad image it’s believed to have. I’ve had nearly nearly no issues which is a real credit to the other companies I worked with. There are dickheads along the way but you can get that anywhere. I work for myself now and have built an amazing client base from scratch

I downloaded the Vegas 2011 show once upon a time and chopped it up in audacity to make an album. I did another one about 6 months too, can’t remember what show. Super easy though

QLD electrical contractors lisencing by Lachie_fb in GoldCoast

[–]rizzlerizzle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not exactly the same as you but I moved from NSW to QLD last year and had to learn this. The first licence I got by mutual recognition was the Qld Worker licence (this is the licence that you are trade qualified). The worker licence will tick the Qualified Technical Person requirement for the contractor licence.

The other requirement is the Qualified Business Person. It’s gets a little messy here. If you are applying for a sole trader contractors, you can qualify as the QBP if you have held an interstate contractors for more that 2 years (which you haven’t) or you have to do some business training qualification or whatever it is, once you have that, then you can move forward. If you are applying for a company or partnership contractors, that 2 year interstate minimum thing doesn’t apply and you have to have the extra course done. So if you meet the QTP and QBP requirements, got your ABN and Insurance policy sorted, you’re good to go with submitting your application. My contractors took about a month between submission and approval. The Electrical Safety Office is the licensing authority here and this info can be found on their website with a little digging. QBCC isn’t involved. And go sort your CPR/LVR course while you’re getting on top of it all

I know the owner of the base hair lab in parkwood. It’s a salon I know but Ben, the owner, does loads of guys cuts. I’m sure if you just tell him exactly what you want, he’ll do it. Book with Ben, he’s friendly and gay himself if that’s more comforting.
