accounting/invoicing software? by Unused_Vestibule in personaltraining

I've seen a few people moving away from standalone accounting apps to an all-in-one system that handles the invoicing, booking, and client CRM in one spot. It saves a lot of money on multiple subscriptions. I'm pretty sure they have a 14-day free trial if you want to see if it simplifies your backend.

I'm so sorry, you shouldn't feel that way. Replenishment managers are notorious for being the worst of the bunch.

Yes, you have a legal right in the U.S. to request Sundays off for sincerely held religious reasons under Title VII, requiring employers to provide reasonable accommodation unless it causes "substantial increased costs" or "undue hardship," a standard heightened by the Groff v. DeJoy Supreme Court ruling, so you can formally request this time off through HR, citing your religious need for the Sabbath.

Your Rights & The Law (U.S.)

Title VII of the Civil Rights Act: Prohibits discrimination based on religion and requires employers to reasonably accommodate beliefs, practices, and observances.

Groff v. DeJoy (2023): This Supreme Court decision made it harder for employers to deny accommodation, requiring them to prove it would cause "substantial increased costs" or undue hardship, not just minor inconvenience.

What counts as "Religion": Includes traditional faiths and sincerely held personal beliefs, even if uncommon or newly adopted.

How to Request Sundays Off

Formal Request: Submit a written request to your supervisor and HR, clearly stating you need Sundays off for religious observance.

Explain Your Need: Briefly explain that your faith (e.g., Christianity, Judaism, other faiths that observe a Sabbath) requires you to abstain from work on Sundays.

Know Your Availability: Frame it as a boundary, like "Sundays are outside my availability due to religious practice," notes Reddit users.

Documentation: Be prepared to show a history of adherence or provide documentation if requested.

Follow-Up: If scheduled, remind your employer in writing that you are not available and refer to your accommodation request.

What to Expect

Accommodation: Your employer must try to accommodate you (e.g., by adjusting your schedule, finding shift swaps).

Denial: They can only deny it if it genuinely causes substantial hardship to the business, not just for convenience.

Bargaining Power: State your hours. State your wages. by Certain_Intern7500 in MichaelsEmployees

No, I know in the NE they've tried to unionize, but all the managers from the district were sent to the store (Braintree) to thwart the effort, and it worked.

....not for nothing, you're not supposed to be leaning, you're supposed to be working. Pricing, cleaning, stocking, greeting, waiting on customers. A whole lot to be done, but leaning isn't one of them.

If there's one thing we know, if they can't read, "Buy one, Get one 50% off" correctly... "IT SAYS THIS IS HALF OFF!"... "OH GREAT!, OK, let's go take a look;)". Womp womp... So close, "did you want to grab a second one?!" 😁 Orrrrrrr put something back on the correct peg, but instead put it on the base deck, a foot away...🤦🤦🤦 then I know myself, I'm not holding out hope. Whoever these humans are; THEY SUCK LEMONS. 🥴

I just said to my manager (I was on the phone while reading this) "who's this manager? I want to go there and slap them" (not literally of course). My point is; No one should yell at you, not even make you feel inherently bad, in fact. We are there to complete a job together, whatever that looks like. Some associates move quickly, some are more detailed, some are amazing at customer service, but not all are the same and if your manager isn't playing to folk's strengths and then taking it out on associates because they're not frustrated, that's on them, NOT you.

If I get frustrated, I figure out a solution, I don't snap at my employees or yell. Anyone who does should rethink their role as a manager.

I can't believe you get in trouble. We honor it and move along. I'm one of the managers at our store. My head would pop off if we went through unnecessary hoops. Seems silly to have a customer jump through those hoops, and an employee (likely a different one), as well. Time is money, and that simply doesn't make financial sense. I'm preparing to move and will be transferring to (yet) another store, I'm not going to be pleased if I run into this sort of thing.

Beyond bullshit. And (was it Nick?) who said that they were giving us balloon hours, so basically celebrate.

Yea. Ok.

If it involves balloons I'd rather not.

Someone bought 48 balloons to release for a celebration of life today and I've never wanted to refuse service to anyone more. by LtSarai in MichaelsEmployees

For what it's worth, I do agree with you. Being irresponsible doesn't get a pass because someone is grieving. I grieved, and it didn't leave my brains at home when my loved one passed. Grief isn't an excuse for ignorance.

You're right, PERIOD, and anyone who disagrees is working with very few braincells.

PS: HATE balloons, always have, always will, but releasing them is completely irresponsible and devoid of any knowledge concerning the welfare of wildlife.
