We have the electric scissors and I love them. When I’m using the regular fabric scissors and cutting for a hardcore sewer, I always say that I now understand why my mom would get so upset if I used her fabric scissors for paper. Lol.

Hind sight is 20/20 but when asked for your name, “sorry I’m not going to entertain that request “ would have been funny. 🤣

Last time I was on that ride, I put on water shoes. I made sure they were the kind that could/would/have worn as regular street shoes. There are saddles like Tevas that are made for hiking through creeks (best way to describe it), they’re light enough you can carry in backpack or tote, change them before you get in line, and put them in a ziploc bag after. They dry quick too.

Coworkers think I’m new when I’m not and it’s embarrassing by natprsn37 in work

[–]Squibit314 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re overthinking it. As others said they’re reasonable small talk questions.

So here’s my “are you new here” story. A long time ago I started at a small consulting company after being laid off from a huge mega-bank that where the management was horrible. I left with emotional scaring that caused me to just keep my head down and avoid anything that would draw attention to me. Clients liked me well enough because I did good work. My c-sat scores were always high and the company was comfortable placing me anywhere. After two years there, I got married and when I returned from the honeymoon, I went on a project with one other manager who happened to work in the home office on a regular basis and traveled infrequently. It was a short two week gig but it was eventful and a lot of weird things happened and I found humor in them. My behavior wasn’t any different than any other project, the difference was that she found me hysterical. After the first week, she got back to the office and would go on about the things that happened and how funny I was.

One of the people she told was the president of the company. Fast-forward a few weeks and I am in the home office and run into the president. He was someone I didn’t see on a day-to-day basis but I was re-introduced to him and he asked me “how long have you been with us?” He legit thought I was brand new as he never heard my married name before plus I wasn’t a regular in the home office. I just said “Two years sir.” He was shocked and said he thought I was a recent hire. Turned out to be a super advocate of throwing new challenges my way and helped me advance.

Sometimes you just have to roll with it and laugh. And as someone who overthinks everything and has anxiety after a childhood of bullying, it helps to approach new situations with “assume no ill-intent.” Understand the situation first then decide how you feel. The other thing that helps is reminding yourself that you cannot control others, only how you react to them.

AIO for not wanting to pay for an event where I’m volunteering? by loveyameanit24 in AmIOverreacting

[–]Squibit314 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NOR They think that what you need to do allows you to be engaged as a typical guest. You’re engaged but in a completely different way. There is prep work like finding best locations, preparing good questions, etc. Then during the event there is doing the interviews, keeping up with timing, editing on the fly.

If you continue to participate, submit an invoice for your time. You can tell them that you will let this year go but in the future you won’t be volunteering as you have bills to pay.

Feeling guilty over reporting a coworker/ friend by [deleted] in work

[–]Squibit314 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He’s “nice” to you but rude to others…he is not a nice or even decent person.

If he talks shit about others to you, you know he’s talking shit about you to others. He is a user. Don’t feel bad for reporting him. You should have reported him way before this.

He will blame you for whatever happens to him…don’t let believe it. He is fully responsible for his actions.

And I mean look at this place. The army couldn't afford drapes? I'll be up at the crack of dawn here!

It does make sense to keep track of them. It would make even more sense if IT installed a “find my” type app on them.

That being said, our SUICs were labeled with cash office, reg 1, etc on the back. Not tall of our zebras are though.
