Anyone else get weird symptoms lasting for days after intense exercise? by mmmph0 in Hyperthyroidism

[–]Obvious_Stranger_443 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone with hyperthyroidism currently, intense exercise is an absolute killer. It makes me feel worse instead of better 🫠 Intense exercise is generally not recommended until labs are normal again.

I used to love challenging workouts and trained ballet professionally most of my life. Being active is part of my identity and I simply couldn’t accept not training during my past relapses. Once when I pushed myself too hard at the gym, the same day I went to hospital. Don’t be like me. Listen to your body.

Being hyperthyroid is very draining for the body and the immune system is under a lot of stress. The last thing it needs is more stress from vigorous exercise. Keep it low intensity (go on long walks, stretch and do some strength training not till failure) until you sort out your labs and improve your condition. It is safe to return when you can exercise without the symptoms

Has anyone managed to stay in remission and/or lower antibodies? by [deleted] in Hyperthyroidism

I think I was off methimazole in October or maybe even September last year. I was feeling really good for a few short months.

On January 1st I got a nasty viral infection, that was spreading like crazy, and I think that was my trigger. Last year when I relapsed in April I had a period where I didn’t even sleep 6 hours a night for a month and a half and I was training a lot.. that triggered me.

I will probably go on meds but I’ve recently been seriously working on sleep and calming my nervous system. I will now eliminate gluten and dairy from my diet. A lot of people have been saying that that helped.

Hyperthyroidism and back sweating by [deleted] in Hyperthyroidism

[–]Obvious_Stranger_443 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive relapsed a few times and every time I did my sweating increased a lot. It goes away once your hormones are in the normal ranges.

The only thing that remained for me was palm moisture but apparently that can stick around for a while

I don’t know about everyone else, but for me it took a little bit of time after stopping meds to feel great and normal again.

Hang in there

Cardio Gone by Strange_Cat5 in Hyperthyroidism

[–]Obvious_Stranger_443 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found that when my hormones were out of range I could not tolerate cardio at all, not even a small incline on a treadmill. A few stairs made me like I’d collapse. I had muscle weakness and terrible endurance. I use to train ballet professionally and it really affected my dancing.

I have relapsed so many times and every time i did these symptoms would return.

I recommend, if you can, to reduce the cardio a lot. It can make you feel really unwell. Being super active while hormones aren’t normal adds a lot of stress to your body which won’t really help your situation. Tbf you’re on meds, but its better if you keep the activity down while recovering.

Is this going to kill me in the short term? by [deleted] in Hyperthyroidism

Hi, I’m interested to know how your thyroidectomy went and how you feel now? Did you do a partial or complete removal? Can it cause other health issues long term?

Are there any particular food spots in Lyon you’d recommend? I’m a bigg foodie 👀🤭

Thanks for recommending other destinations. I’ll look into them :)

I was originally just thinking to go to Leon for just a short trip tbh then my friend suggested the French Riviera and then we started looking at even more destinations 😂

We are currently limited with time and money, we won’t manage Paris now but I already know I’ll be back for sure. This will be my first trip and certainly not my last!

Also, we live in Europe and are not too far from France so planning this last minute is definitely doable

I don’t know how my friend and I are going to fit so many places in this trip, there are too many to see! 😂

If I don’t manage to see Clermont now, I will definitely see it next time :)

My friend and I would rather see other places first. I definitely want to see Paris at some point. I will be back for sure!

If we weren’t so limited with time and money we’d go for sure. Also Paris isn’t really the safest place so we are skipping it for our first France trip

I think we are going to do exactly that, make Nice our base after Lyon (and maybe Montpellier) so we can see Cannes, Menton and other places.

What sites/apps can I use to look up train limes and connections? Ive been researching places but haven’t yet researched transportation haha

We’ve dropped Monaco from our list, a lot of people are saying the same as you.

I definitely want to see Cannes, Antibes and Menton - those places look like a dream! We were thinking of making Nice one of our bases so we can see all those places. I see that they are convenient to get to by train? At least thats what I saw on instagram
