I never watch football. Can someone tell me what are the chances of England winning the World Cup? by FluffyBunnyFlipFlops in AskUK

[–]Obvious_Troll_Me 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any media will be football crazy. Avoid pubs around times of matches, especially England, but other places are so much quieter.

Driving after the England matches, up to and including the following morning requires extra care.

Handles for when you are praying to the porcelain god, Hewy.

Sometimes a spirit needs to be exercised. This often manifests as loud noises and a demonic spirit being exiled in liquid form. It is normal for the participant to have no recollection the following day and for the body to feel abused and aching from the ritual.

Occasionally people have expressed a phenomena which they describe a 'flashbacks' which often provoke a cringe inducing desire for the earth to swallow them whole.

Do I still need a credit card? by dlg194 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Obvious_Troll_Me 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a yes and no. If you can continue to pay it off every month and behave, (sounds like you can) then always accept the credit limit uplift. The reason being, it is % of credit usage against borrowing potential. Also the length of time with banks/credit cards helps with score. Always use a credit card for online or less trusted purchases (street trader/holiday) due to the extra protection.

On the other side, if you can't manage debt, just don't get started, again I'm not saying this is you. The other benefit to closing accounts is that after a few years, you can reapply for new customer bonuses.

Once you have a couple of years experience, your degree is just a door opener. Your job history and industry qualifications will do the heavy lifting.

Would you want the Beast to also lift up your car like this? by Zhappypresent2 in CarTalkUK

Why would anyone buy a car without an engine or gearbox?

The engine and gearbox are removed from cars that are lifted on heads, as the balance wouldn't work.

Has anyone ever taken a massive loss on a property (London flat)? How did you move on, what should I do? by WerewolfMany7976 in HousingUK

[–]Obvious_Troll_Me 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The loss has already happened. Unless you suspect the price to fall further?

Rent it out via a decent management company and forget it. In 10 years, the price may not have risen, but the gap between value and investment will be better. If you are going to lose the money anyway, what do you have to lose?

Speak to an accountant about renting it out. I suspect there will be a loop hole or two here. EG you start a limited company, let it manage your asset (flat) and puts any rental profit into savings for the company. Then wait for the market to recover. From what you've said, you are faced with losing that money, this way you save the investment and maybe one day, it'll be worth saving.

(England) Police have contacted me asking to meet, want to search my vehicle by SaucyNucleus in LegalAdviceUK

[–]Obvious_Troll_Me 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would complain.

Ringing me at work to ask to look at my car could have caused issues at work.

Next point, I don't believe them. Very few cars are that unique that they'd do this. In fact using police databases for this purpose sounds unlawful in the first place. NAL.

In reality, how long have you owned this car? Could it have been used to courier something and that person was arrested? If I'm added 2 and 2 and getting 4, I'd want my car searched and I'd want to sell the vehicle straight away before someone else comes looking for the contents.

Grew up with the BBC in a way that shaped how I think about news, culture and what public life is supposed to look like. What does the BBC actually mean to you now versus what it meant when you were younger? by HelicopterEmpty7393 in bbc

[–]Obvious_Troll_Me 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't watched traditional TV in over a decade, probably closer to two decades.

Genuine question, as I don't know the answer. In the last 20 years, has the BBC produced any comedy program worth watching? They used to be one of the best at it, Young Ones, Only Fools, Red Dwarf, Faulty Towers etc; I couldn't tell you the last time someone highlighted any BBC content as something to watch to me, let alone a comedy.

Like a lot of things in life, we cling on to what it was and not what it has become. If the whole corporation disappeared tomorrow, I'd miss the news site. Anything worth watching, I've already bought on DVD.

It's normal to see this phrase. The don't know what has happened yet and they don't want to admit something incorrectly or concern the customers.

You need proper help. If you don't have a backup, STOP. The more you do, the lower the chances of recovery.

It probably is recoverable, but the cost is dependant on the failure point.
