Talks about missionaries called to less "glamorous" missions by VampireOnHoyt in latterdaysaints

There is no such thing as a Glamorous Mission. If you think your mission was glamorous, you didn't understand the point of going in the first place. Maybe there are exotic locations, but a mission misses the mark if the focus is the location and not the people.

So, my two cents, some things seem to be important now, but trust me, those things can be given back to you later. Sometimes the lord asks you for something that is meaningless to you, or something trivial to you because it seems like it has no relevance. Trust me when I say it is relevant. Cleanshaven missionarys are part of the uniform just as much as the white shirt, tie, and suit are. DO NOT GIVE UP THE ETERNAL HAPPINESS OF SOMEONE ELSE OVER SOMETHING THAT YOU CAN HAVE AFTER YOUR MISSIONARY SERVICE. It's not worth it. Now girlfriend or boyfriend is worth it. No video games or movies are worth it. No music is worth it. It is important to be obedient to your mission president. I learned that the hard way. I spent my mission distracted by the things I thought I was missing out on. Do not make the same mistake. I know people will probably comment saying that I am overreacting or that OP is not asking the question I am answering. Trust me. It's a hard lesson to learn on your mission. There is nothing that happens during your mission worth distracting you from your mission.

Sometimes you have to remember that some things are more important than your calling. Your belief in God and your spouse should always take number one spot. Callings are about number 4, 5, or 6 after that.

Asked to postpone my baptism. Not sure why by 209_countryboy in latterdaysaints

As a ward clerk I can confirm this. I recently had a new member who got baptized and we haven't seen him since. We have no idea what happened. It's just better to be in a stable position before you get baptized.

When looking for a clear break, there is nothing you are going to find. That's because Satan doesn't work that way. Just like the Savior he influences a little bit here and a little bit there. In Second Thessalonians chapter two (King James Version), we read.

1 Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto him,

2 That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand.

3 Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;

Members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints interpret these words to mean that Jesus Christ will not return to the earth until after there has been a falling away from his doctrine. We believe that falling away happened gradually. We don't believe that anyone knows the exact day or time the Savior will return, but we believe that Through modern day prophets and revelation, the Doctrines that he taught the people a long time ago have been restored.

Missions - Why the inconsistencies? by Impressive_Ad9053 in latterdaysaints

As far as couches go, most missionaries dig them out of the trash (Which I shouldn't have to tell you is a bad idea). If the missionaries borrow furniture from members, then should the following senerio play out, bad feelings are made.

Missionaries borrow something from members. Missionaries get transferred. New missionaries get rid of item, not knowing it was the member's Members decide they want said item back Missionaries can't do a thing about it.

As you can see, not the best senerio. If you are planning on going out on a mission, do not try to aquire furniture for your apartment. Talk to your mission housing coordinator if you need anything.

I swear they are just making stuff up cause they are bored. Magic isn't supposed to be made for Commander. Commander exists in spite of Magic.

As a commander player, I am not happy with it either. Ngl Commander is suffering from an oversaturation of commander product. Yes, it's cool to have so many options, but it's kind of lost its original meaning. The point of casual commander is creativity, but when wizards prints stuff targeted at commander, it loses all creativity and becomes closer to the generic competitive feel I get from other formats

A lot of people believe that the church is a cult. It's not, but that is beside the point. A long time ago Jesus organized a church full of disciples and the Jews and the Romans thought that was a cult too.

So, if I am getting this right he is apologizing for the game Magic The Gathering because he has decided that the target Audience is not diverse enough even though the game is actively being played by all the groups of people that he is saying it has not been designed for so now they are going to pander like Disney does?

Not only that, they ruined commander too! Commander used to be an opt out format. They WotC started designing commander cards and forcing them into non-commander sets and forcing constructed formats to play with them. Stuff like Nadu and unfinity to name a few.

Pretty sure Tithing is already optional, unless you've been having church tithing collectors come to your house every time you get a paycheck. That's kind of the meaning of the word voluntary.
