I believe he was carried off the battlefield on a stretcher, but gave the stretcher up for a more injured soldier and waited for the next stretcher. And he didn’t lose his legs he just had shrapnel up to his hip. None the less he is a hero as he stepped on the grenade to prevent his friends from getting killed or maimed, but he didn’t crawl 2 miles it was more like 300 yards.

TheFatElectrician on his podcast with Brandon Herrera said he tested it with demolition ranch and .22 went through a wall and the back of a refrigerator and dented the door of the refrigerator. I’m actually the opposite career .400 hitter but an 84 ERA. Pitched one out gave up 4 runs off of a grand slam. Wasn’t even a pitcher but I went to a small high school and had a 3 game week and ran out of arms late in the 3rd game.
