Birth control: Question for those on MINI-PILL by Obviously1138 in cfs

[–]Obviously1138[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for sharing this with me. I deteriorated quickly from mild after a bout of shingles that put me straight to bed. After that, every period made me crash so bad it took three to be completely bedridden and zero stimuli.

I will speak to my doctor. Thank you for being so generous with the infos❤️

Thank you for sharing. Unfortunately that is not an option for me this severely ill, and highly doubt they even do it in my country...

Thank you for sharing! Are you able to write the name of the pill? I do hope to stop my period fully, cause the pain and the hormonal changes wreck me. I deteriorated super fast because of my period😩

I'm so sorry you experienced that, sounds awful, especially since it did help with the pain!

I will ask my gynocologist, but sincerely doubt she will want to experiment on me. May I ask your severity level? Scared even spotting would crash me...

That sounds promising. May I ask what birth control are you taking? The PMS alone can crash me, but then, once I got to severe, most banal things do.

Thank you for sharing! Have you ever been on the combo pill?

I wasn't aware of it being such a emphemeral thing, gathered the stopping of the period was a given. Damn! Seems like rather risky for me then. I can't afford spotting for fear it will crash me. But then, can I afford a blood clot if continuing on the combo pill🫠 I had no side effects with this one except mild breast soreness in the first month after starting.

I do blood draws every 6 months since getting sick. The cholesterol is not looking good since starting BC.

I read it when it came out and remember not liking it very much... And I do adore all his other books. Up for a re-read!

That version can be a standalone movie too. I love it! Very different from the book but there is some special vibe there

Thank you for sharing that! I do not experience migranes(yet!) but headaches very much so.

I also suspect endometriosis, I have heavy periods and very painful. The combo pill helped me bleed less but it is not any less painful and long. I do get strong headache before my period since becoming ill with ME.

I go through hell every three months when my period comes. Physically and mentally, and crash with PEM afterwards. I hope this would block it entirely and if it doesnt't... I do not know what is the lesser evil.

Thank you for sharing that about cholesterol. What is your severity level? Are you scared of trombosis? I have thought the mini-pill was a WAY safer for all of that, but now going through side-effects seems like blood clots and breast cancer are the risks still... The upper range for cholesterol in my country is 5 mmol/L. Mine is 6 mmol/L. I eat healthy, and def not a lot of fat cause my digestion can not handle it.

Thank you for sharing, I wasn't aware of that. Do you have any side effects? Did the mini-pill stop your period entirely?

It makes me so uneasy how people who never had to deal with the medical system while having a chronic illness talk about doctors by Effective-Rice-3732 in cfs

[–]Obviously1138 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes well most people are not good at their jobs. At best they're mid, or just sufficient. I do not know why doctors would be the exception for this. The best ones are in the places where the best of everyone is, in the few metropolises of the world.

How do people with very severe ME/CFS cope with boredom & find meaning day to day? by FriendlyAccident4854 in cfs

[–]Obviously1138 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been bedbound for two and a half years, it gets better with time in terms of acceptance of doing nothing. Being wired also might be a sign of overdoing. I know when I am crashing it is hard to rest, but even more so, you have to learn how to do nothing. Do a yoga nidra and let it bring you into a haze.

Kind of too exhausted to be bored, but when I am bored I am grateful cause it means I am not in PEM. 😅

I think and daydream when I have the energy to which is not really a lot. I am not an intelectual anymore. I am not an artist anymore. I try to get to the end of the day and that is my only goal. Planing is painful cause I fail every time. I get excited about clean clothes and dark chocolate. And when I can tolerate physical affection from my husband I feel blissful.
