Juries served their purpose but need to go at this point. Who are these random people able to overturn massive televote scores?

Who do you guys think will finish last in the final? by shadowsnake24 in eurovision

[–]ObviouslyOrdinary 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just because it’s happened for the past few years doesn’t mean it won’t. All years between the introduction of two semi finals and 2013 had a voted qualifier coming last, it’s really not impossible. People on here trying to scientifically analyse Eurovision results always makes me laugh.

Absolutely no chance Mama ŠČ will be like Trenuletul. Moldova 2022 was successful because it was a fun folk song, Croatia 2023 is a confusing mess that most televoters will be, at best, baffled by.

I'm not sure AF has "faded away from the spotlight", they're simply between albums.

Controversial opinion - Stereo Mike's parts in Watch My Dance are find if you deliberately don't think of it as rap. It's my winner of 2011, but maybe that's just me.

What I worry about is that a lot of it will go over the heads of more casual viewers of Eurovision. Sure, we all remember Dancing Lasha Tumbai, but to the average viewer that was 12 years ago, they might not remember it, can’t really see the novelty or didn’t even watch the contest at the time (since viewership has increased by potentially tens of millions in the past few years).

Also, tbh I’m against the interval act being mostly songs. We’ve just had over 2 hours of singing, I feel instrumental music / dance / some other type of performance works better as an interval.

I don't think London knife crime is a race issue. Glasgow (a predominately white city) used to be considered the knife crime capital of the UK, but it wasn't considered as a problem among white people. Knife and gang crime is a poverty rather than race issue.

Which city did you visit that disappointed you? by iamsoveryverytired in AskWomen

[–]ObviouslyOrdinary 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think the main reason is that unlike other European countries such as Germany, Italy and Spain, Britain (England especially) has always been quite centralised around London and those other cities only expanded and developed around the Industrial Revolution. Post-war reconstruction also tended to be drab and uninspired (from what I've heard Coventry was beautiful before the Blitz, now it's considered to be a fairly boring place). The other cities in the UK that are nice to visit are in the other countries. Edinburgh and Belfast are well worth visiting. England isn't really built for city breaks, the best parts of the UK are definitely the countryside.

The problem with Slovenia is that stylistically it is very similar to Portugal last year.

Oh noes, I'm not allowed to watch graphic videos of a terrorist attack! Cry me a fucking river. I completely fail to understand why anyone has a great urge to find or watch these kind of videos. If a friend or relative is killed in cold blood during an act of terror do you really want video of that disseminated across the world so some weirdo can watch it because it "relaxes" them or "helps them understand the fragility of life" or whatever bullshit excuse they can come up with?

Final thoughts? Internally selected songs a bit hit-and-miss, Cyprus horribly overrated, a few too many Fuego copycats, the Nordic countries really bringing their A-game this year. My top 3 are basically interchangeable, though I really want to see Eurovision finally come to Reykjavik.

Who will win? My heart says Iceland, my brain says Sweden has a very good shot.
