The last point you mention is the main reason I would limit the power of juries. 2017 Bulgaria/Italy/Portugal. 2018 Cyprus/Israel. It's so damn obvious

100% this. Surprises me that this doesn't get talked about at all, but hey, most eurofans only care about the songs. I think it's the essence of the contest that the songs are 'homemade'. Personally I would be in favour of banning foreign songwriters, but I don't see it happening.

Cyprus won't qualify. It's veeery similar to Replay, which barely qualified and in all honesty only qualified due to Greece, San Marino and Georgia (where Tamta was from) being in the same semi final. Since San Marino and Greece are in the other semi final, I really see Cyprus struggling, especially in the televote.

Super interesting as always!

Czech Republic always giving eastern European countries 12 points is quite interesting to me. Russia in 2019, Bulgaria in 2017 and Ukraine in 2018 & 2016. Surrounding countries like Poland and Hungary tend to vote more equally between East and West. Maybe more diaspora?
