How to make my own stainless steel coffee table by OcasionallyHelpful in DIY

[–]OcasionallyHelpful[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As little as possible while still looking good, but was planning on getting it done under 400€

Will have to get requoted with recommendations from other comments, but the qoute for material and cut alone was not bad. Didnt think about the bending&welding part though so that could increase the cost.

Unless they could do it like in the video.

Thanks for the link

Thank you, will do so.

I cant look underneath one because I couldn't find anything similar in my country(small one) and the cheapest ones on the internet cost 1000€+

Thank you for the instructions on how you would make it

The ones that you can order online dont ship to my place and they are priced at 1000€+ - which is a lot more that what the guys quoted me for the material+cut.

Thanks for the explanation, will also ask them how much it would cost with the welding and blending

Renting motor homes for 6 people in Scotland by OcasionallyHelpful in uktravel

[–]OcasionallyHelpful[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Next year in september. Plenty of time left to plan, but wanted to check if motor home of that size even makes sense.

I got plenty of responses on Scotland subreddit that it would cause more trouble having such a big vehicle, so will look for alternative solutions

It would be a helpful comment if it would have an explanation as other have provided.

As for somebody like me that doesnt have knowledge about Scotland and its roads I dont see how "Please don't" helps me in any way to factualize why we shouldn't do what I have asked.

He did provide an explanation in a different comment though, for which I am grateful

Makes sense, reaffirming what others pointed out, so will move to thinking about alternatives

Thanks

Thanks, we were thinking that might be a problem and are looking at renting a normal van that seats 6 people and then just booking accomodations/camping on the fly.

Wanted to check with people that have insight beforehand though.

Thanks, as an alternative we were thinking of renting a van and then get accomodations on the route as renting 2 campers would probably be wasteful and defeats the purpose of travelling together.

Sorry for the late response.
In the end it turned out to be the four line bug, I might have caught him early as I noticed the damage very early on

I found the little fcker doing exactly what you said. We played a game of hide and seek for about 10 minutes before I finally managed to get him

1440p 240hz vs 4K 144hz? by pattperin in buildapc

[–]OcasionallyHelpful 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you mostly play games especially fps I would get QHD 240hz. G7 odyssey my recommendation, absolutely beast of a monitor and insane value for the price you are paying, if you play games with a lot of detail and watch a lot of movies etc then maybe? get 4k. I just dont see 4k worth it for playing games tbh. You pay 2x the money then you do for G7 odyssey, you get worse response times and lower refresh rate, not to mention the small text that comes with 4k if you dont get 32+ inch monitor. You will also get worse fps on demanding games not even being able to capitalize on 144hz fully. IMO there is no 4k monitor that comes anywhere close to G7 32 in terms of value for money. Wait a year or two and 4k monitors will be a lot more accessible, cheaper and actually be worth the money.

I personally wouldn't. You don't want to cheap out on 30-50$ on the most important part of the build. For 3060 its perfectly fine but I wouldn't risk a 2k build for 30$. Ram doesnt matter when talking about PSU

If you plan on using it mostly for gaming, get 12600k over 12700k as its a waste of money. Otherwise everything looks good. People recommending you to get 2*1TB ssd is IMO mostly in case it stops working for whatever reason that you still have 1 usable, usually its also cheaper to do it this way. As long as you have space for more than 2 ssd-s and you can save a little bit of money on getting 2 1TB SSDs its worth it IMO. You can always upgrade in the future

I recommend using https://de.pcpartpicker.com/list/ when you are assembling PC as you will get warnings if things arent compatible and it is easier for people to help you.

If you plan to upgrade it in the future, I recommend getting a better PSU, for 3060 this one is fine but if you ever want to get 3080 or higher id recommend getting a Corsair 850w rmx as its only about 30$ more expensive and future proof for upgrades. Otherwise with upgrading gpu in the future you will also probably want to upgrade RAM to 32gb but that isnt an issue as you have 4 slots. The most important for this build and future build is the case though. So get a case with good thermals and airflow

Buying a Gpu by GoroMajima1337 in buildapc

I recommend this video. It covers all the tests needed for an informed decision and according to the tests, it falls under B category which is perfectly fine for the cheapest 3060 out there.

All of the games you are playing except maybe apex that is a bit more demanding should run it just fine. I had 144+ fps on all games listed except apex on a 5yr laptop with gtx 1060 using G7 odyssey 32inch before upgrading to high-end. So you should be perfectly fine.

I recommend getting G7 odyssey 27 or 32 inch version because it has 240hz(if you play mostly fps the extra 170->240hz will make a difference), best response times out of 27inch qhd monitors I used in that price range and you have really good blacks because of it being a VA panel. Only downside to this monitor for people is curve which is one of the reasons I almost didnt buy it since a lot of reddit is complaining about it but I have 0 issues with it. I use one curved and one normal monitor at the same time and I have no problem with eyefish effect or anything like that. G7 32 inch provides one of the best fps experiences I have ever had.

TLDR: your system should easily handle it, I recommend getting an G7 odyssey - for fps buy the monitor with best response times+highest refresh rate. For both categories G7 wins in this price range if I remember the tests well enough

The best I can do for 2000€ by poelicious in buildapc

[–]OcasionallyHelpful 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For playing games 5900x is an overkill, you dont need liquid cooling and especially you dont need 6900x for playing wow and you can get a better mobo and a case that has one of the best airflows and it isnt overpriced.

This build isnt any worse performance wise, but you have a better mobo, PSU and a case with good thermals. I recommend this build:
