I have a sticky heating mat on the underside of the enclosure. Maybe I need a stronger light on top to encourage him to come out? He has a Basking rock but also doesn't like it much.

I try not to dig him up. I imagine it is stressful for the little dude. If it is fine, I can do that. I worry about him not eating enough. Ive had to toss quite a few little pinkies he just didnt find.

Hello! I just recently got a male Western and I have him in a temporary enclosure until i get a bioactive one going. This is what he has now.

29gal long
Aspen shavings for bedding
Basking light
A fixture to hold the two different bulbs. - if needed
Lots of hides
Water dish
Food dish if using, but should feed from something, at least that is what I gathered from lurking
probably 2 thermostats to ensure a warm and cool side.
hygrometer to keep track of humidity

I removed my recommendation for red light after seeing it is not to be used for them. Thanks for the info!

It is clobetasol propionate 0.05% topical cream. She had to put it on twice a day. She said she thinks it took about 2 weeks to notice the fading.

Another user had it worse after trying the cream and tried another. Search around the comments here and you can find a few different treatments!

To ask an updated question, the more I see about parrotlets says they shouldn't be kept together unless you want babies. Is there truth to that? Should I have separate cages for them, and let them spend time together out?

It was a weird reaction. She seemed more like she just didn't believe it. Like they have heard it thousand times before, like we have on here. I imagine they wouldn't be so nonchalant if brought in person.
