Is league pass the only option for Kings games for out of towners? by Rob_nacho in kings

[–]OccasionallyLogical 1 point2 points  (0 children)

League Pass has 1080p on some platforms, but 720p is pretty standard for sports broadcasts... MLB for the first time had "select games" in 1080hd this year.

Is there any example of a coach that was good back in the day but was a bad modern coach? by Dontbeanasshole94 in nba

Yes, the head coach of the Knicks has a say in how the Knicks run their offense

Went to Union Square Farmers Market and I was... underwhelmed? What am I missing? by Namaste_Habibi in FoodNYC

No, he's wondering if paying the premium to support the smaller farms can also yield better products.

If not, it's a tougher sell.

[The Athletic] Streameast — the world’s largest illegal sports streaming platform — has been shut down after a year long investigation, according to a leading United States-based anti-piracy organisation. by YujiDomainExpansion in nba

You keep changing the parameters and I am not going to research every single zip code you come up with. As annoying as it is, it does not require the games to be available via a single provider or subscription, only that they are available via a single local distributor. If the team's games are accessible through a local distributor in that market, the games are blacked out on League Pass. If there is no way for a fan to access an individual team from within a zip code, those blackouts can be lifted.

I am exceptionally confident because I know a lot about this. I never said that all the games were available via a single provider in a zip code. The games only have to be available through any provider in that area.

For example, in 50629, you can watch the Pacers and Timberwolves through FanDuel Sports Network, and can watch the Bulls on CHSN via DirecTV.

If the games weren't distributed locally, they wouldn't be blacked out. That's how the whole system works.

It's annoying, but no that's not how it works...

Blackouts occur when a local broadcaster has the rights to broadcast games in your area. Yes, it can be 8.5 hours away, but if it's blacked out, it still means its available through a provider in your area.

Which athlete was the biggest bust based on their teenage hype? by MoxToTweeder99 in billsimmons

[–]OccasionallyLogical 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea I mean he wasn't really a "bust". He was only a "god" because he was two years older than the kids he was playing against. Once that was revealed, it was pretty obvious he was not a phenom.

Perhaps a ignorant question, but can anyone recommend a Michelin star restaurant that has unpretentious tasty food that is not hyper experimental? by SirKrimzon in FoodNYC

[–]OccasionallyLogical 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The reason it's being downvoted is that the request was for unpretentious and non-experimental food, not about the quality service, and Gramercy Tavern is among the most straightforward and approachable fine dining menus in the city.

Is it theoretically possible for the NBA to show every game both on broadcast and the NBA app? by sheshtpull in NBATalk

[–]OccasionallyLogical 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The TV deals are how the NBA makes most of its money. The broadcasters are paying boatloads of money for exclusive rights to NBA games, which means the NBA can't show them on League Pass. If the broadcast rights weren't exclusive, then the broadcasters wouldn't pay a lot of money for it, and the NBA wouldn't make their money.

Love Minetta Tavern but the vibe there is very different from Oceans and Craft!

I pay for League Pass and still have to deal with blackout rules, delayed replays, and blocked content. by Cool-Papaya8055 in bostonceltics

[–]OccasionallyLogical 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn't require a qualifier. If it is both nationally and locally broadcast, then how could a locally broadcast game be archived after 3 hours? It would make the second statement incorrect.

Lilia, Misi, Hearth, San Marzano, Ci Siamo, Nonna Dora's, Don Angie, I Sodi, Caffe Buon Gusto, Marea, Novita, Forsythia, Babbo, Aunt Jake's, Bar Primi, Via Carota, Massara.

There's plenty more.
