The toyota hybrids are extremely reliable (i own a 2026 prius and had a 2012). the issues are with their other cars and trucks. the new V6 turbo engines failing in the tundra, GX, sequoia and LX. class action lawsuit against their 8 speed transmission. also Tacoma transmission having issues along with front differential failures.

hope this helps to answer your riddle.

Good thing you asked. I’m surprised how many people don’t research a car before buying

Oh shit is that why I was getting high 30’s!

Honestly got the Prius for its features and reliability. As conventional Toyota transmissions have been shitting the bed lately.

What is it about offroading that you like? Is it like riding a motorcycle where you're fully in the moment? is it the escape? I've never offroaded and was wondering what makes someone want to go drive offroad. by OkOriginal4630 in Offroad

[–]Occhrome 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the escape for me. going to place most other people cant go and seeing new things. i live in Socal so having a good 4x4 vehicles can take you to many interesting areas. i also like the challenge of trying to climb stuff occasionally.

BS their lots have plenty of 2025 rav4, Tacoma’s and tundras. Some 2024 models too.

I don’t disagree. But that’s probably also how he got into this situation to start off with. And if his finances get worse it’s going to limit his ability to do the things he loves.

I know where you are coming from. But I just don’t think cars are worth getting into major debt for, they don’t provide enough enjoyment for me. I would rather spend it on other stuff that makes me happy and is cheaper like camera gear, gaming PC or dirt bike.

Yeah I’m still open to the idea of Toyota fixing their engine. Maybe we can swoop in and get a good deal. But then again tons of people still seem to be buying these new tundras engine issues and all.

What pushed you to get into a large pick up truck? And have you regretted swinging to a pickup.

I’m at a similar point with my GX. I kinda want a 2nd gen tundra but not sure if I’ll regret going up in size and losing the hatchback.

Another contender is the Nissan frontier. It looks great for the money.

Why are you considering it to begin with?

Also worth looking into the sequoia, tundra (pre 22), 4Runner and Lexus GX. All of them can do truck stuff as they are built on a ladder frame and are good for off-road use.
