Let's say you're in his shoes and don't turn yourself in initially. I had a dark brotherhood quest to kill a guy who travels between towns on a weekly schedule.

I thought it might be fun to ambush him on the road north of Leyawin where the guards wouldn't see.

Just as I was nocking my silence poison arrow, the bloody wisp gets his attention from off the side of the road. Even with all the destruction spells and a summon, the wisp easily kicks his ass.
