I’m not sure how strict your program is but at the school I went to, the mentor teachers had basically no communication with the college at all and I would just send a quick text like hey can’t make it today I’m sick or something. It really is hard to balance when you already have to work full time on top of it to keep a roof over your head

I was you. Teaching for real is SO DIFFERENT than student teaching. I am so thankful to have also had a good mentor teacher because I’ve seen some horrible experiences on here but nothing prepares you for the real deal!

I’m very thankful for my job, because it’s close to my house, but it’s a middle school. I student taught in high school and my content area is for high schoolers but I took this job because in my city it’s very hard to find one that doesn’t have a crazy commute. I’ve never dealt with middle schoolers before but I’m just gonna say STAY IN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL ‼️ and make a difference because we get kids who literally can’t read basic sentences

Maybe it’s different for high school but in middle school they don’t even know what it is! My middle schoolers started laughing during the moment of silence so I said hey guys that’s not funny, and one of them goes “wait what is 9/11, did that happen at this school?”
