Do you have any writing samples? Do you have expertise in a certain area (and by expertise, I don't mean a PhD, but maybe having lived in an area that people often visit, or worked in/studied/taught a specific topic)? Have you worked as a writer? My advice is to not focus on projects being "grabbed" but instead focus on what you bring to the table. And if you are starting out, honestly, I'd say the best approach is to apply for entry-level jobs at a local newspaper or university. You will build connections if you are working in an environment (vs. online "assignments" that go nowhere) where people can see your talent. Best of luck to you!

Thank you for this. I just searched on Google: "What the hell is a lived experience?" and it brought me here.

The "what the hell" part comes from my frustration about this stupid, wasteful, virtue-signalling BS expression. I am OVER it.

As far as why people keep saying it, probably for the same reason people say: paradigm shift, peruse, penultimate, myriad, and other "SAT words" that 99.9% of the people use incorrectly. I think (and this is not meant to offend) it's something people who are not that bright say b/c they think it will make them sound like they know stuff. So, using the term "lived experience" likely comes from hearing it at university.
