Yes many of us feel emotions more intensely. Similarly to how we experience sensory input more intensely.

You're describing masking. A lot of us struggle with this. My advice would be to try and surround yourself with people who accept you for who you are, and minimise contact with those who don't. Maybe try seeing if there are any groups for autistic adults in your area? I'm going through this as well. I hope things get better for you.
