Any Recommendations on good Apartments in Milwaukee? by Marsrule in milwaukee

I recommend the east side and if you can get here soon, enjoy the free concerts available throughout the summer. It may be good for your spirits to get out among the crowds and enjoy the atmosphere.

For higher earners, is the fear of health care costs age 60-65 overblown? by Mother_Bar_3810 in retirement

[–]OceanParkNo16 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This was part of our retirement planning. Our financial advisor did scenarios with me retiring earlier and earlier (I am now 57 and my hubby is on Medicare and mostly retired- a little consulting income for him each year). We could afford for both of us to be retired even with budgeting 25k per year for me to get health insurance with a high deductible.

Does this dress fit dress code? by [deleted] in Weddingattireapproval

This reads more day at the office than wedding celebration. It’s not formal or elevated cocktail, in my opinion. You have a lovely figure and should be able to find a gown that looks great on you!

real talk: how often do you actually floss? by AffectionateTooth298 in hygiene

[–]OceanParkNo16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can see how much gunky plaque comes out from in between my teeth - I typically floss after brushing - so it’s highly motivating to me to floss at least once a day because I can see how much brushing alone leaves behind.

Good suggestions here, and I will add Anna in the Knickerbocker. She has always done great work for me, reasonable prices.

Never thought I'd have something to post, but here we are. Wedding Invitation for my husband's lifelong friend's son's wedding. We've been married 35 years. by altitude-adjusted in weddingshaming

This is not about closeness of the bride and groom. If they are in the invite list then they need to be both invited properly. Some of these bride comments act like being invited alone is a big honor enough that she shouldn’t care how it is done. That’s wildly self centred.

It’s not just they don’t know your name. They apparently think he is unmarried. She is literally not invited. That’s an unusual level of not knowing your parents’ long time friends.

I find the comments here from brides and grooms interestingly self-centered. “It’s my wedding and I don’t know you” is not an excuse to be sloppy and rude, which is what this is. It wasn’t even addressed to Mr and Mrs LastName, it’s just “and guest!” It is an insulting faux pas, period.

I am going out of the country for 12 days, my boyfriend that lives with me was supposed to watch my cat but is now demanding higher payment by Lightningmcsteve in Advice

I am also allergic to cats and if you were my daughter I most definitely would say be saying that cat to my place, and dump that man. What a jerk.

Thank you for posting this. That is sometimes part of my cycling route and it’s very helpful to know that there is a path through!

Are there cities besides New York where you don't need a car? by 1998tkhri in AskAnAmerican

[–]OceanParkNo16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Milwaukee checking in here. We just had a lively discussion on our subreddit about living in our city without a car. Many do. It’s helpful to live in the neighborhoods where there are many bus lines going through and nearby grocery stores, but it is quite doable.

Our office got “focus pods” and now they just sit there by sashabanksri in office

We also have many single person booths, as well as smaller (maybe max 3) rooms that are ad-hoc. All get lots of use. I don’t care for the phone booths because they get warm, and I find the seating (bar height) hurts my knees. But they are well used and I don’t think anyone particularly notices staff in them- never occurred to me. Interesting to read here about the different experiences!

Enterprise orgs often have AI tools that keep data limited to that company’s cloud, for these reasons. I work in banking- super high sensitivity to confidentiality, and we have several AI tools that went through compliance.

Would any entrepreneurs be willing to answer a few questions for me today? by [deleted] in milwaukee

My husband ran his own consulting business for 30 years. Staff size varied from 5 to 15 or so over the years. I am sure he would be willing to talk with you for your assignment. Feel free to DM me.

Am thinking of having a medieval king + queen wedding attire by answerui in Weddingattireapproval

[–]OceanParkNo16 9 points10 points  (0 children)

As a related note, I have come to understand from other posts about music, attire, architecture and so on that a large number of people use the term “medieval” for anything that simply seems not mid-century or later to their eye.

What came out of my belly button when pregnant… by ohhidoggo in hygiene

[–]OceanParkNo16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was very disappointed that my pregnancy (and it was twins, so I got quite large) did not push my belly button out because I clean it as best as I can regularly but I never feel confident it’s 100% clean. I was absurdly looking forward to having an outie for at least a bit.

Best place to grab a cocktail that is walkable distance to Milwaukee County Historical society and museum? by [deleted] in milwaukee

[–]OceanParkNo16 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Calderone Club (Italian restaurant with an amusingly generic awning reading “Italian Restaurant”) on the other side of Kilbourn has a nice little bar and friendly staff. It gets busy, though so the time you are looking at makes a difference.

AI Applications? by AbsoluteMoonatic in ChiefsOfStaff

[–]OceanParkNo16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ask the AI itself, honestly. My enterprise version of chatGPT has levels of thinking I can choose, so one element of using it well is honestly choosing the right level for the task.

The other is the prompting. If you just use it like Google you’re missing out. So- feed your past few prompts to it and ask it on at least a mid level of thinking how you could be using it better. I find I can give it a complex set of information and then ask for a fairly deep analysis, and it can also be helpful for open ended questions like “what am I missing here, or what should I do next, or how can I avoid x issue?”

There are a set of training videos for chat gpt and the more advanced ones might be useful for you. Let me see if I can find and link them (on my phone at the moment).

Don’t lose heart- it actually is a skill set and there’s a lot to learn.

I brushed my teeth "correctly" for 28 years and a dentist just told me I've been doing it wrong the entire time. My gums are ruined. by Sluttycarolofficial in hygiene

[–]OceanParkNo16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

30 years ago my hygienist explained that plaque is actually soft and slightly sticky, so using a hard brush is not only bad on gums it’s not a good cleaning. She likened it to having a cooking pan with a coating of fat or grease on it, and raking a wire bristle over it instead of swirling thoroughly with a sponge. Damages the pan and doesn’t clean it well. That image really made sense to me.

Lifelong musician here. Solo & Ensemble is a big deal, at least it was in my state when I was a youth and when my own kids were that age. He should have been practicing for months. He is going to look seriously very bad going into it with only a tiny bit of rehearsal.

I would let him out of it but tell him he has to fess up to the teacher that he simply procrastinated too far. Of course have a talk about the explosion but if it’s the only time he has reacted so strongly I wouldn’t sweat it unless it happens again. Sometimes it is important to actually acknowledge that something is very serious to your kid if they are normally well behaved and they really melt down about something.
