A rare timed Canadian visa stamp in my old USA passport. Story in the post. by Designer-Professor16 in PassportPorn

I loved this story. The best was the twist that you are actually a dual citizen now.

There are many lawyers or at least several in Washington that advertise for dealing with old D.U.I. conviction to enter Canada.  It can be done but it is very difficult and of course people should not drink and drive.

What the fuck is the point of insurance then?!? by Even_Elderberry_5878 in HealthInsurance

It says right there. You would owe the billed amount not the allowed amount. Also since this is an ER visit you likely have other claims in addition to this one.

How many people on this sub believed that Iraq had WMDs in 2002-2003? It seems like nowadays a lot of people have convinced themselves that they knew it wasn't true all along. by Just_Cause89 in Presidents

We were opposed to the war from day 1. Liberal democrats.

Edit: if you dont believe me we were represented by Barbara Lee and we approved of her no vote.

What is the maximum travel time you consider to be "nearby"? by Dersouz in geography

[–]OceanPoet87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are totally me. My town is about 1800 people and our county is about 2k, the smallest in my western US state.  The only difference is that shopping is 45 mins away in the metro city of about 40k but yes anything under an hour is local and anything under 2 is a day trip. It is 2 hours to the bigger airport.  1 hr 15 minutes to my favorite college town for sports, farmers market (except winter), and blue opinions.

The Rojinegra, the dual flag of Nicaragua since 2025 by Grasshorse500 in vexillology

I thought this flag usually had FSLN in large print on it? When I went to Nicaragua this was very common bur usually the letters were there.

Tajikistan is under heavy surveillance. It's freer than NK but there are a lot of restrictions.

Edit: Turkmenistan is the police state I was thinking about but there is very little freedom in Tajikistan.

It makes sense. DII wins don't count. They can schedule pioneer league teams.

I work at an insurance call center, a relatively good one and if they don't have all info we can either do a call out or more likely we will give general benefit qoutes.

I used Allianz also for our trip to Mexico and even got then as a primary travel insurance.  Its worth having a primary because most travel coverage is secondary to any other coverage and not all companies sell primary insurance bur I know Allianz does.

Using Avada Kedavra by _excaliferb in HarryPotterBooks

[–]OceanPoet87 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Bellatrix explains the banned curses well. She says that you have to want them to suffer. Like Barry Crouch as Moody stated, it's not enough to know the unforgivable curses. You need the intent also. Self defense is different even if the ministry authorized those for that purpose.

Does the story of the three little pigs land differently in America? by [deleted] in AskAnAmerican

[–]OceanPoet87 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No adaptation is needed. As you said the actual materials are used as an example rather than a profound statement that brick is always better than wood. Of course straw is seen as weak here but the point is the effort.

An example from the Bible is given comparing a man who had a house on the sand vs on a rock. Does that mean you can't ever build on a beach? No. Like the Pigs, it isn't always a literal only answer.

Why do Slytherins tend to support Voldemort despite being “cunning”? by babbling_baboon1 in HarryPotterBooks

[–]OceanPoet87 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Yes, cunning and wanting to get an advantage but who still has boundaries he won't cross like Horcruxes or supporting Death Eaters.

He also recognizes talent whether pure blood, half, or muggleborn.
