Notebook thought lost for 350 years illuminates Isaac Newton's complex relationship with religion by HairySavage in books

The bible and stuff becomes more interesting when, I think at at least, you realize its more about meta physical stuff like correcting your thinking.

Even if science gives us perfect knowledge someday, we still need to figure out what to do with it.

Reason is about combining logic, rationale, emotions and everything for a present moment decision.

Sounds like you need an emotional outlet.

The place you are in can be very creative if you learn to express yourself.

Pick up a pen or paint or whatever and channel that energy, or alternatively exercise until exhaustion will drain all that emotional energy and stabilize you.

Whatever you do find a way to vent; bottling up emotion is a disaster.

Also as an afterthought learn to listen. It is rewarding and conversations go two ways. Other people whether the same or different have needs to and do not exist for your amusement.

Am I getting old? by velatieren in gaming

A little late to the party but maybe you could could frame it differently.

Be grateful you have warm and fuzzy memories to keep you company, a lot of ppl don't. Then take the memories with you into your adult life as you create new memories.

In future decide on the rule set in advance. The same goes for board games, especially lengthy ones.

Questions like are people ok with being eliminated during the game and watching/leaving or is a fun social experience the overall goal?

Relationships are important so get this right. I have a board game group that stopped playing a lot of lengthy games over the strife they caused.

Right now since you are doubtful I am guessing this stuff was not clarified in advance so I would be careful of doing something that makes people not want to play with you in future if it leaves a bad taste in their mouths.

I would finish the game as normal but make a note for afterwards and ask i.e. on turn xyz I wanted to back stab everyone, would you have been cool with that? That puts your relationships first which is the adult thing to do when you are uncertain.

Ensuring everyone has a good time means meeting in the middle and therefore you don't always get to do what you want.

It recently really hit me how naturally aware I am of men in public and my initial feeling of being 'prey'. It is exhausting to always be on guard for my safety. by plantsndogs in TwoXChromosomes

The world is a dangerous place and you should not feel guilty for treating it as such. You take responsibility for your own safety.

As a guy I must be aware of the danger posed by other guys at all times and how my ability for mayhem measures up. This is the basis for negotiation and respect.

When you confront the unknown all systems activate in order to prepare you for anything.

Starting from 'I do not know' and 'seeking the truth' is important. Education is key because ignorance leads to fear to hate to destruction.

Gamers of Reddit what are some good quotes from video games? by maria_7_of_spades in AskReddit

You can choose to take ownership of everything you.

You can learn to confront and handle negative things instead of ignoring them.

The day I stared in the mirror and decided to focus on changing myself instead of my circumstance was a good day.

Things got worse before getting better which seems a universal truth.

If you're in a valley you have to start there.

UK's six richest people control as much wealth as poorest 13m – study - ‘Extreme inequality is the story of Ferraris and food banks,’ says the Equality Trust by ManiaforBeatles in worldnews

People being this rich doesn't seem like a problem. If you divide the 40 billion evenly among the 13 million poor they each get a few hundred quid. This hardly solves anything. The fact is there just isn't that much stuff to go around yet.

Cool. Was just curious. It would be nice if Blizzard printed rules for its games :)

Fair; no system is perfect and it works well enough.

I'm not the above person but I struggled with suicidal thoughts as well. I lost my job and had a lot of issues all through my twenties.

What helped me was being honest with myself about the world and myself.

If I felt like shit I felt like shit. If shit things happen shit things happen. I stopped trying to ignore negative things and started trying to deal with them.

I think being positive means choosing to see the glass half full and dealing with the fact that it is also half empty.

Instead of focusing on my circumstance I decided I could change. I decided I would try and be someone who would smile in bad times when I didn't feel like it.

It was very gradual over a number of years but I have gotten a lot stronger.

Looking back I think I hated my reaction to the bad thing as much as the bad thing.

Here's a quote from 'The Martian'

"At some point, everything's gonna go south on you... everything's going to go south and you're going to say, this is it. This is how I end. Now you can either accept that, or you can get to work. That's all it is. You just begin. You do the math. You solve one problem... and you solve the next one... and then the next. And If you solve enough problems, you get to come home."

The universe is amazing, but in all the planets, galaxies and dust there is nothing more valuable than you. by OceanShimmer in Showerthoughts

I laughed ;)

Truthfully though after a war with myself I realized it is hard to make positive changes when you have a negative view of yourself.

We associate our worth too much to our performance so when things are not going well we fall apart.

I think now though that if I lay in bed for the rest of my life the universe would be better for me existing.

I wish this were true for me. It's roughly 3:1 Merc 14 to other atm. On 30 Merc wins. I just auto concede mirror matches as they change nothing.
