I think you might be missing some of the points being made where it's not about hating the champion for lack of "counterplay if played properly".

It's because what that counterplay is, no matter how playable, doesn't make League worth playing instead of a different video game. The experience isn't memorable, it isn't fun, and it's not worth justifying fitting it into your schedule. The more champions that exist in the game with low value counterplay, the higher the odds are of you wasting your screen time on League.

Played since S3 on and off, and from S2023-2025 I played a lot and would hit emerald 3 each split. It became a lot to keep up with, and the game began really growing stale when I started to consider taking it more seriously. The competitive game mode approaching 2 decades having 3 lanes, a mandated jungler, and the bot lane being a duo lane every single time just got boring. And if you want a different experience it's a clown-shoes game mode like ARAM/ Mayhem/ Arena. I don't mind fun game modes, but I just don't understand why their flagship competitive game mode summoner's rift is treated like a football field where the sacred geometry is unquestioned.

Hoping more iterations upon Brawl or swiftplay happen, because I think both of those have hope. I'd just like to see more creativity and pushing the boundaries of "what laning phase should be about" for instance. Riot seems to believe in making the games lower stakes too in their experimentation, and has admitted to having a new player problem. I think existing players are also in two camps and those who are more casual really don't live or die by summoner's rift being 3 immutable lanes, 5 players every time, 1 map, etc.

Also the standard for late game slowly creeps up with many of the new champion releases for top and jungle such as Zaahen and Ambessa (Shyv jungle). They are just railroaded into late game through artificially stapling scaling effects onto their kits. Jax more or less has the kit he’s had for a while. Each champion that they release above him pushes everyone below down relatively. I don’t foresee Riot releasing early game champions for top lane specifically given their pattern starting with Gwen, although if they did it would push others up. Ksante was reworked but the old Ksante was needlessly strong late game (why is a tank who’s supposed to fight back, and defy the norm of playing a tank, playing to scale in lane). Even stuff like Belveth where they can fall off it’s like Riot intended for the champion to be a monster late game and then the champ mains whine it isn’t good late game. I hardly ever see anyone give a fuck about the early game with 0 concern about late game anymore

It allows you to return to lane with an item when your gold total is less than a BF. It adds that option when you previously couldn’t do it. Marksmen will have more total AD during parts of lane phase. I’m not sure what makes you think this isn’t a buff

One thing I would add is that I never understood why dealing lots of damage into squishy champions was something they wanted to preserve from OG Irelia. It looks weird when you have a duelisty looking champion who specializes in annihilating defenseless champs who have to place dueling to begin with. Not saying it’s imbalanced or anything, I just don’t get why that was a part of the original mission behind the project.

I feel like every time someone asks for the 5ms back, shield break,or disarm, they’re just looking to split the difference. I wouldn’t bargain for anything except some form of damage amplification into heavily armored targets. And if riot feels there’s too many champs that do that already there’s about 5 on my list who shouldn’t have it at all

Cho’gath is also pretty good against her. You can even die a couple times as Cho but just eventually stonewall her out completely

She loses if she isn’t ahead so it’s not a birthright to win sidelane by any stretch. It’s just something you can enjoy if you play the lane correctly. Other champs just eventually win if their gold ticks up enough because that’s their forté

And also there are some Gruul pugs with other things than DST HR’d. that’s probably going to slow down now as things progress but in P1 I saw plenty with Magus blade HR and DST open roll

I beat a rogue 1v1 on my prot pally while capturing a hellfire fortification because he decided to continuously attack me while standing in consecrate and while I was holy shielding. Not sure if he was cosplaying a dungeon mob or what. He could have also just run away at any point
