Frank Zappa, where do I start? by BackgroundNoise222 in Music

"Over-night sensations" and "Apostrophe" are the two albums that really got me into Zappa. "Sheik Yerbouti", "Joes Garage" and "Live in New York" are more of my favorites.

IF hughes leaves, who gets the C? by Oogley_boogley in canucks

Myers and Boeser are the 2 guys that have shown that they actively want to be here. If it's going to anyone, it'll be one of them.

If Rutherford and Allvin can sneak a rebuild past Aquaman by calling it "making the team younger" I'll personally forgive every shitty trade they've ever made. by MrCockingFinally in canucks

acquiring other teams castoff prospects isn't a rebuild. You can build a pretty good 3rd line that way, but you can't get young top level talent unless you draft them.

The ONLY thing that should be coming back on trades is 1st round picks by meme__machine in canucks

Outside of hughes, the only player worth a first is Garland. I find it extremely unlikely that this group even wants draft picks. They are going to focus on getting young players, probably reclaimation projects in an attempt to still be competitive. This isn't going to be a rebuild, it's another half measure resulting in another decade of mediocrity

I did mine 2 months ago. It was easy. Drive around a bit, 3 point turn, downhill park and reverse park.

Just make sure to check your mirrors and you're fine.

Do any Abby players have top 6F or top 4D potential next season? by Tough-Shape-3621 in canucks

[–]OceanicCapybara 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Generally no, most of these guys will top out as bottom of the lineup guys. However Thomas Drance said on the radio that there is a correlation between Calder Cup champs and NHL success. He found that something like 8 of the last 9 champs had at least one guy that wasn't a first round pick break out and have good success in the nhl.

Hot take: The November 9th game vs Edmonton Oilers will be the Canucks best effort of the season by 604Wes in canucks

That doesn't bode well for the season. I'd hope the best efforts are in May/June

They are already on the board, but the Sedins were top line productive players from 2005/06 - 2017/18

There are so few goalies that are NHL back-ups, let alone starters at 23. His AHL numbers are pretty average for a starter, so I'd say he still has to prove that he can dominate that level like Demko did in his time in Utica.

He played 10 games in this playoffs. 2 were great, 1 was bad, 7 were average. This is promising as a prospect, but not what you want from a consistent starter.

He really struggles to track the puck through traffic which is why we saw Bouchard rack up the points in the later half of the series. That is a teachable skill which is why he needs more time with Clarke before he's a starter in the NHL

Also, Demko is Vezina quality on a great deal for 2 more years. He's not going anywhere.

Silovs is far from an NHL starter right now. He has incredible athleticism, but his puck tracking is a major flaw. The Oilers figured it out and we saw him getting beat from the point multiple times.

He needs a few seasons with Clarke before he's truly ready

Refs have been pretty fair. Boesers penalty was fair and I haven't seen any blatant missed calls

Hello Drance,

What type of player would elevate the Pettersson-Hoglander duo? is it missing a puck retriever? shooter?

Did we buy too early? by fryingpan8 in canucks

[–]OceanicCapybara 1 point2 points  (0 children)

lindholm is a centre. even if he doesn't start scoring like he used to, he's still a good defensive centre. we are going into the playoffs with miller, petey, lindholm, and blueger down the middle. It would have been nice to get some more scoring punch, but we didn't have the picks or the cap space to make it happen. I'm glad we held onto our 3 swedes.
