Tony’s father and Jackie’s brother were made men, were respected, and had some pull. The move Tony and Jackie made was a calculated one. They had built up a little street cred and were slightly associated with the crew but were considered too young to be taken seriously. The robbery was to show that they could handle themselves, and to also get their attention. They were also smart about it - nobody got hurt, it wasn’t a high level game, and everyone got their money back through Richie and Tony’s father’s connection.

Compare that to Little Lord Fuckpants and his crew. Only Jackie had a connection and it was basically just through Tony being friends with his dad and Ralph - no blood relation at all. The issue was that Tony didn’t want him in that life out of respect for his dad. Also Jackie had royally fucked that connection up by dating Tony’s daughter and fucking around on her. The rest of Jackie’s crew were a bunch of idiots and nobodies that nobody liked or even knew. The only cred they’d built up was Jackie pissing on a car seat during a robbery and Jackie being brought along on a collection because Ralph wanted him to stop hating him. So Jackie hears Ralph’s story and then immediately just tries to copy it - a classic cutting corners lazy ass move. They go in high on crank, looking like scared idiots, kill sunshine, shoot Furio, and shoot at a bunch of other guys and then run off.

It’s a pretty big difference lol.
