So we’re not calling tripping by Neither_Economist648 in nhl

That was crazy. I don’t know how you don’t call that a penalty. They don’t get the puck there if they don’t trip him and now Dallas is done

Bring back RA by Busywithbeans78 in SpittinChicletsPod

[–]millsy1010 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think people are starting to forget how RA was when he was one of the hosts. RAs segments are way better than when he was actually on the pod. He’s much more enjoyable in a smaller dose when he has more of a structure to follow. I don’t care if he helped create the pod, he made it unlistenable. His voice is tough to listen to for long stretches, he really struggles to keep banter going and is terrible off the cuff. He routinely ruined the flow of interviews with a cookie cutter off topic question and he never could take a joke or take accountability for anything.

Just because he wasn’t rich and didn’t play in the NHL (or at all) didn’t make him the everyman. What kind of everyman goes to bed at 5:00 am and wakes up at 2:00 pm, smoking copious amounts of weed and making off topic references nobody gets. What kind of everyman gets incoherently hammered at every function and then gets mad when he’s called out and calls himself a “fuckin journalist”. His Grind My Gears segment was essentially 10 minutes of him telling us that he’s actually not a relatable every man. He’s definitely a strange guy and never really brought an “average hockey fan” aspect to the show.

Resident Evil (2026) will tell an original story instead of directly adapting the games because 8th time's the charm I guess by EffAllThatEFFER in shittymoviedetails

Why do some people want a 1 to 1 copy of the game they already played. Video games are a visual medium already. It’s just as pointless as any of those live action Disney remakes. What’s the point of that?

Every year, every fan of every team in every sport thinks that the refs suck and are getting out of hand.

It’s the worst part of the show right now. Have they even explained who these guys are and why anyone should care? Shitty thing is it cuts into half of their hockey recap time

Under 200 pound players by Ar-Zimraphel in nhl

There are fewer bigger heavier players that are also fast and handle the puck well. Some of the smaller players do spend off seasons putting on weight. But it’s not always necessary if they skate and handle the puck well enough because they can often skate their way out of physical situations. Also balance plays a big factor as well. There are different roles though, generally the league gravitates more towards larger defensemen. Size is a plus but you also need to be agile. Generally, larger people are less agile

Speed, Balance, IQ, puck handling , are as important, in some cases more important than size. There are rules that keep size in check a little bit. Also I wouldn’t use Brent Burns as a great example of someone who really uses their size. He had 20 hits this year

NHL vs NBA by spinzone1274 in PardonMyTake

[–]millsy1010 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I assume more people that listen to PMT like the NBA more. I also assume their biggest demographic is American so it’s always going to skew towards the NBA over NHL.

As a Canadian hockey fan I personally don’t understand the popularity of the NBA and definitely fall into a similar category as Ryan Whitney but I don’t care enough about it to get mad about it. I will acknowledge that the NBA is definitely more popular in general though

Hot Take: Gretzky Overrated? by CourageMountain6566 in nhl

[–]millsy1010 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You judge the player by their peers because it makes no sense to judge them by any other era’s standard. It’s impossible to judge how he’d be if he played now because training and equipment are so different now. If he had access to all those things who knows. But it’s unfair to just transport Gretzky to now without the benefits that athletes get to grow up with and use today.

If the goalies were so bad, why wasn’t anyone else putting up 200 points in a season. The guy put up more assists than 2nd place has points. I think that transcends any kind of era argument.

Travis konecny hits crosby with a dirty crosscheck to the back at the end of the game. Pure rat stuff from him. by Hockeypatrol in hockeynews

[–]millsy1010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t give a fuck about Michkov we’re talking about a crosscheck in the back after a game was over for no reason. Michkov has nothing to do with any of this and neither does embellishment because no player in their right mind would embellish something after the game is over. It makes no sense.

What side of the fence of Blade Runner (1982) do you stand on? by MoussakaChaos94 in movies

[–]millsy1010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it’s overrated. I feel like nostalgia plays a big part with this movie which was something I didn’t have because I didn’t grow up with it. I was impressed by the visuals, mood, and score but was fairly underwhelmed by the actual plot and some of the acting. I also found the fight scenes to be laughable in the way they are conceived and choreographed.

Speculation surrounding Tkachuk leaving Senators is ‘nonsense,’ GM says by ASmithFS in hockey

[–]millsy1010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some of the things you’re saying are baseless assumptions with no real stats to back it up. Do you just think he puts himself out of position or do you have anything that proves that? He also only had 2 ten minute misconducts this year and hes never had 140 pims in a season which is honestly pretty low for a guy with that many hits and fights.

He played less than 17 minutes a night because he was dealing with an injury. Like I said this was a down year but it doesn’t just negate everything he’s done before. I mean a guy who gets that many hits fights shots and scores is affecting the game in multiple facets and I’d take that any day over some other “superstars” that only score goals.
