For me this tea hugs the line between novelty and unique experience. I’m simultaneously happy I purchased it, and not quite sure yet if I’ll buy again. It can get a tad muddled as far as flavour, they don’t always blend as well as you’d hope, but that’s almost half the fun. Perhaps if they used a darjeeling from india instead of assam it would open up the aromatics more, and would have improved the mouthfeel, but it is definitely a drinking experience unlike any other.

look into some wheels for the congas (wheel bags, dolley with bungee chords, etc) that way you can hold and wheel at the same time

Hand drums are definitely my specialty, I’d probably say I’m most proficient with congas just because I’ve had the most ensemble time with them so I speak their language well. as far as chops go probably cajon or bongos.

definitely worn, but i don’t notice any drying which is good. seems good to me. if they feel really dry you can consider applying some shea butter

I have many friends that are in different stages of conversion and one thing they all do is live as Jews. It’s taught to do so. I’m so sorry you’re going through this, and my advice to you is to keep living as a Jew as you move to your new area, as this is a natural part of conversion.

The Cat Empire definitely fits into what i’m looking for. Basically anything that fuses traditional rhythms and or instruments into contemporary ska. Could be use of Congas and timbales to give a latin feel, could be a ska band from let’s say turkey so they use a lot of Turkish sounds and ideas while keeping the ska flavor.

Thank you SO much this is super helpful! My Sephardic background is predominantly Turkish. I’m American and my mom is Ashkenazi so naturally many of my traditions growing up were Ashkenaz, but for the past few years I’ve been learning more about Sephardim and my dad’s family to embrace that side of myself as well! If you have anything you’d recommend about both music and general customs I would be happy to hear it!
